The property boasts unbeatable mountain views and unrestricted walking paths, proximity to unchallenged waterfalls, and enveloped by wild forests, all of it free to explore! Yet, it's only a short walk to the local pub and café/restaurant. The ski resort is a short drive up Mt Mawson and it's well worth visiting all year round. The house itself is erected on what remained of the foundation of Old (Community) Hall, originally built around 100 years ago on the grounds donated to the National Park by a local man John MacCullum. More recently it was utilized by scouts until it burnt down, nullifying its heritage value. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Presently the upper quarters are enjoyed by its owners on those rare occasions when they're around but most of the time the guests will find it utterly peaceful and even tranquil.
Me and my wife found it impossible not to fall in love with Mt Field National Park, its crisp air, endless walks, unchallenged nature and, of course, most friendly and beautiful neighborhood. When we are not working on improving our property, we go for a sightseeing drive or go fishing or just walk local forests and enjoy their offerings.
Mt Field National Park is the most frequented tourist destination in Tasmania, offering rain forest, numerous waterfalls, wild forests with world's second tallest trees, rich, succulent lakes with curvy shores and unparalleled views, all in pristine state. Gordon Dam and its surroundings will take your breath away, whereas fishing will make you feel part of the nature too. Summer months offer abundance of blackberry all over the place, the nearest pickings literally few steps away from the property, and it's all free to enjoy! For real winter experience you drive up Mt Mawson, equipped with three tow lifts, for skiing or just snow-balling. You might want to choose wild tracks or civilized and maintained tourist paths, but either way you're guaranteed crowd-free environment.
