La Paz is a great city to visit. It's breathtaking, and I mean that literally. Situated at about 3600 meters you will have trouble breathing if it's you are not aclimated to altitude.
The telefericos are great to get a view of the city and explore the neigborhoods. I'd recommend doing a walking tour and learn as much as possible about the prison. It is self regulated by the prisonners. You can meet crazy Dave at 1pm everyday for a story about it as hes lived inside for about 16 year.
Lots of activity to do. Coca museum. Death road by bike (I recommend the agency baracuda they are very profesionnal). Mercado. Cholita's WWE :).
I'd recommend skipping valle de la luna to do valle de las animas instead. It's a 4-6 hours walk and it's really nice.
And many others things...

I appreciated the convenience of having the museums clustered together in easy-to-navigate areas. Although some climbing was required, I quickly got used to it after the first day. I stayed in the Centro, closer to Sopocachi. Finding great food, regardless of budget, was easy, with many of the best places near El Mercado de las Brujas. I walked everywhere but did not venture into Zona Sur, which I plan to visit next time. The Teleférico was an excellent way to navigate the city and enjoy its best views. I relished the history, art, and kindness of Bolivians (and paceños) who were eager to help and ensure a pleasant stay in their city. I am going back. Having local currency for expenses is better, although some places accept credit cards. American Express is not widely accepted; I couldn't find a single place that received it. I managed with my Apple/Mastercard.

It was really lovely to walk the streets of the city, although I walked without going in a particular destination. The most interesting thing was the teleferico system, very neat, clean and simple to use, as well as cheap.

I liked the “tourist quarter”, riding the cable cars, Killi Killi viewpoint,
Day trips to Laguna Charquini and Chacaltaya. Eating out, no bad experiences. My hotel was convenient for ATM’s down Main Street, close to tourist quarter where you can test your altitude acclimatisation walking up the braes and call in to one of the many tour agencies to book a trip. I did Tiwanaku tour and suffered from informational overload - the guide gave us so much info I feel I could have passed an examination the next day!

La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes.
La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes. It has a high altitude, recommend altitude pills. The city has varying heights, for instance you are going up and down a mountain to get to the other side of the city. When you are on top you can see the bowl with many many houses. There is a cable car to take you from the bottom of the mountain and one neighborhood to the top of the mountain to another neighborhood. There are several beautiful landscapes in La Paz. Valley of the moon, valley of the souls, etc... There is also a lot of shopping in the city.

An authentic South American large city still evolving.
An authentic South American large city still evolving. Everywhere you go you realized this is not for tourists, this is really a nation which has its own identity and you feel it in everything. If you don't speak Spanish then get ready to learn. People very friendly, and living history everywhere. Leave a day for the 2 hour trip to the jungle area for the La Senda Verde animal rescue area.
Great location - the airport minibus stopped right beside it and there are many restaurants nearby along with phone shops for tourist SIM cards.
Not many hotels in La Paz have a good standard of bathrooms but this hotel was.
P.s I stayed in this hotel before Uyuni and came back a week later and was impressed that the hotel worker (sadly i have forgotten his name) remembered my name and he was very helpful in general. Also, without me even asking, he even asked other guests if i could share their taxi to save my money.
We stayed here 3 times during our trip around Bolivia, as it was clean, comfortable, good value for money and our host was really helpful, including sorting early check-in after night buses, moving us to a different room when I booked the wrong one, helping with advice to make our night bus when parades prevented taxis getting anywhere in the city and feeding us an early breakfast of tea and toast before our early final departure.
The hostel is in a really good location next to the witches market, a short walk from the bus station and also to further downtown and museums. The staff were super kind and helpful, and I really liked the rooftop restaurant (I had a basic breakfast included but there were lots of other options for an extra few bs). I stayed in a private room with amazing views. Hot water was the best I've had in Bolivia!
-nice bathroom with hot shower
-restaurant on site
-water refill for 5 bolivianos
-good kitchen
-staff kept everyone well informed about the protests
-ATM and laundry place across the street, supermarket not far away
Excellent hotel. Fantastic location. Best room we had in Bolivia for an incredible price. Rooms are newly renovated, bed and bedding super clean and comfortable. Smart TV, hot shower. Highly recommend.
