Where civilization meets nature. Where you forget there is time. Because great things come in seclusion. ​ Welcome to our Hillhouse. A secluded house by the forest with breathtaking views of the nearby Šumava mountains, the Šumava itself is only a 10-minute drive away. Because we like quality food, you can look forward to sourdough bread baked by us. You can enjoy it in a very original outdoor seating as a tasty full breakfast. We offer not only relaxation and rest, but also experiential stays in our Mongolian yurt. Follow us on social media and our website for more information.
We are husband and wife Jiří and Kateřina Kraus with three children, and our long-standing dream was to offer people accommodation in solitude, with a beautiful view, which encourages them to rest and restart their thoughts from today's hectic days full of stress, because we ourselves have the privilege of living like this. The wish was sent and a few years later (specifically in October 2023) we bought the neighboring and only house with a garden next to ours and since then we have been trying to improve the whole lot for you so that you can fully enjoy your stay and feel cozy at the same time. With your stay, you will also support our other heartfelt project of Agnes' free school, because the freedom itself is about taking responsibility for ourselves and this is something we try to be example not only for our children, but also for the other.
The ski and bike area Špičák, Železná Ruda can be found within a 30-minute drive. For passionate skiers, we also recommend visiting the Grosser Arber ski area on the German side of the Šumava, approx. 40 minutes away. The surroundings of the Hillhouse offer beautiful bike tours along forest or road bike paths, or hiking. Just past the house, you can go to the well with the Dobrá Voda chapel near Pocinovice, the observation tower of St. Markéta, or the rock lake near Orlovice. The town of Klatovy (27,000 inhabitants) is only 15 km away, where you can find very good quality food, drink good coffee and munch on a healthy cake.
