Numerous well-developed hiking and biking trails invite you to explore culture and nature, such as the railroad bike path Rotkäppchenland, the Schwalm bike path and the Fulda bike path. Bad Hersfeld, which is only 15 km away, also belongs to the absolutely recommendable excursions and welcomes its visitors with a great half-timbered old town as well as numerous spa, cultural and leisure facilities. The abbey ruins are considered the largest Romanesque basilica north of the Alps and are now the largest Romanesque church ruins in the world.
