Year-Round Sun and Fun
Set against the backdrop of desert and mountains, Sharm el Sheikh is a year-round Red Sea diving and beach resort. Although based on an existing village, it is very much a purpose-built holiday town, with lots of international brands of hotel, restaurant and bar lining its sandy shores.
The oldest part surrounds the Old Market, a heady mix of shisha and spices, roughly in the middle of the Naama Bay and Um el Sid suburbs. The other Sharm districts of Shark’s Bay and Nabq Bay are along the coast by Sharm el Sheikh Airport.
The Red Sea offers some of the world’s best dive spots with rich underwater life on the deep reefs of the amazing Ras Mohammed National Park. Other watersports include windsurfing, kayaking or banana boating, and the Cleopark waterpark has flumes, pools and rapids.
Other things to do include shopping at Il Mercato mall and the many souvenir stalls, karting at Ghibli Raceway, or watching a show at the Arabian-styled Alf Leila Wa Leila. Outside town you can go horse or camel riding in the desert, and visit a Bedouin village or St Catherine’s Monastery in the Sinai peninsula hills.

Sharm El Sheik is a great seaside resort town. There are a number of resorts and all are pretty new and modern. We were a fair way from the 'old town', so didn't leave the resort much, but didn't need to, as the resort had it all. I love hot and dry countries, Wherever the sun is, I could stay for a very long time. Sharm El-Sheikh itself is maybe not as rich in culture as other Egyptian cities but it has its very own charm and something relaxed about it - which I would not per se say about Alexandria or Hurghada for example. I loved that the people are so used to tourists, that you don't feel unproprietly dressed as a woman if you wear shorter clothes or even crochet stuff over bikinis and so on. It’s very fun if you stay at the right hotel, in Sharm all the shops and centers starts opening by 17:00 and closes 01:00-03:00 night, so that the time you gonna spend outside. You are going to spend the rest of the time in the hotel ( when you wake up until 17:00 ). I’d recommend to use an app called inDrive (it’s just like Uber with very fair prices), otherwise you’ll get scammed by the taxis. Book your activities like diving, parachute, yacht trips, quad bike (safari) through booking.com. Keep in mind that food is very cheap outside (just make sure it’s a clean place and you don’t get scammed).AAnonymous - Scored 1010

We would have had choosen a more beautiful beach with more swimming possibilty in the sea with more coralls. The city is a normal egyptian city we were spent most of the time in the hotel, to enjoy the time. The city is nice, the people was friendly but thats all. The safety was acceptable, we used taxi and private transfers. We loved it.
