Company info

We are an English couple who fell for the Cantal on our first visit here in 2015. We moved to Saint Cirgues de Jordanne in 2017 and have been renovating our home ready to welcome guests. We are both very keen walkers and enjoy exploring as much of this part of the Cantal as we can. We can provide advice and ideas for people as well as maps and routes for you to follow. Cycling is also a passion of ours and we have secure storage for bikes in the large cellar and facilities for repairs if needed.

Perfect for couples, groups or individual visitors wishing to explore on foot, by bike or by car. The Maison Normande is located on the outskirts of the village of Saint-Cirgues, it offers a view of the beautiful Jordanne valley and the Cantal mountains. 4 cosy and comfortable bedrooms occupy the top floors of this unique three-story Norman style house and can accommodate up to 6 people. La Maison Normande is a unique property within the Cantal mountains. It was built around 1912 by a local man who wanted to please his new wife from Normandy, so he used architectural ideas from her home town. It is a three story building with high ceilings and spacious rooms. It stands on the edge of the village of Saint Cirgues with views of both the village and mountains.

Neighborhood info

There are walking routes that start at our garden gate and introduce you to the peace and beauty of the Cantal's hills, valleys and mountains. The Gorges de la Jordanne are just 200 metres away (open June - September) and are a great place for you to spend several hours exploring the deep river valley. The historic village church is of Roman style and dates back to the 12th century. Aurillac, 15 mins away. A historic town with lots of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants Mandailles, 10 mins, a hub for outdoor adventures. The 12km ascent to Pas de Peyrol is a must for cyclists of all abilities with electric bikes available to hire locally too. Puy Mary, at the head of the valley is one of the Grand Sites of France and a must to visit. From Puy Mary there are panoramic views of the Monts du Cantal and the Massif du Sancy Super Lioran is 30 mins away in the next valley. For downhill and cross country skiing. There is a cable car, to the summit of the Plomb du Cantal, which also runs in the Summer for walkers. The roads around the area are quiet and weave between villages and hamlets that link the valleys of the Monts du Cantal together.
