The 5-star rated house is in a tiny lane in the historic conservation area. One minute away on foot is the town centre with its cafés, restaurants, organic food shop, cheese and wine bar and boutiques. A well-stocked supermarket and laundry facilities are close by. Free wifi is available at Christies Anglo/French tea, coffee, cake and book shop. There are 3 take-away pizza facilities.There is a hot air fan in the shower room, there is a babies cot, and inflatable spare bed with an electric pump, There is also a mahogany desk for office use . Poitiers, with its airport and train station is 20 minutes away by car. THE HOUSE Downstairs is a comfortably furnished living/dining room with a fully equipped kitchen and large fridge/freezer. The bathroom has a large shower, wash basin and WC and a hot air blower fan, Towels, toilet paper and essentials are all provided. The larger bedroom has 2 single beds, the smaller one a single bed. Each bed has freshly laundered linen and new bamboo pillows. There is also a new inflatable bed and electric pump available in case you have an extra guest. .There is a hot air fan in the shower room, the is also babies cot, There is also a very nice mahogany office desk and chair for office use . There is a second toilet upstairs. Less than 2 minutes away on foot is a hidden picnic area, reached via a flowery, tree-lined pathway. A small bridge crosses over a shallow stream, GUEST ACCESS I will meet you when you arrive at the house to give you the keys, answer any questions, and collect the keys from you when you leave. I live twenty minutes away and can be contacted by phone in English and French.

I trained as a draughtsman and later worked in Central London as a sales manager. For recreation I sailed and participated in many sailing yacht races including three times in the Fastnet Race as a navigator, I was in the successful winning British Admirals Cup team led by our captain the then Prime Minister, Ted Heath M.P. and later I raced in the Italian A.C. team. Then to flying, as a pilot I owned a Beagle Pup 2, B121 aerobatic light aircraft, which I raced for many years and one year was the top-scoring air racing pilot in the UK There is a note with telephone numbers for both English and French speakers. Gencay La Maison Blanche, this lovely French house, is situated in the calm conservation area, close to the castle and is just a one minute walk to the vibrant heart of Gencay. Street parking next to the house and just 20 seconds from your front door. You can leave your car there all day and night if you wish. There are also 2 major car parks nearby within a 3 - 4 min walk. There is a great view of the castle nearby which is now being renovated. It was the southern defence, one of four castles that protected the beautiful city of Poitiers. You can enter its grounds if you wish, or go on open country walks around the area. There is also a large public park with a lake and benches for a picnic. Nearby attractions include Monkey Valley, the medieval fortified abbey of Nouaille Maupertuis, the 12th century of Notre Dame in Poitiers and the many ancient churches and monuments in the area.
