The house is beautiful and James was very hospitable and friendly. The room was spectacular and we loved how comfortable everything felt. Breakfast was amazing, every morning there was a line up of fresh breads, jams, cereal and drinks prepared along with a hot breakfast. James offered assistance with recommending restaurants and was always accommodating. Ballymote is a stunning historic home that is perfectly situated near a variety of places we could visit and made the ideal base for our Northern Ireland trip.

Very comfortable bed in spacious elegant room. Quiet location. Interesting and friendly hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area and all manner of things. Exceptional breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and nectarine compote with creamy yogurt being highlights. Enjoyed the chats we had: motorcycles, the army, local history, politics…could have gone on!

  • I will not have a car.Just want a nice break. Are there many places to walk with my dog.I have limited mobility
    Thank you very much for your enquiry. We are a mile And a half outside Downpatrick on a very busy road but up a long private drive. Hence there are limited places to walk safely so being without a car would cause you difficulties. Thanks Nicola M-B

Ballymote is our 300 year old Family Home and we pride ourselves in treating you like a proper house guest. As our numerous reviews show, we offer far from the bland run of the mill B&B experience. We aim to provide a stay that is as special and distinctive as our home. On arrival we encourage you to relax and unwind in our beautiful drawing room with a cup of tea and some home-made shortbread, before a night spent in what many guests describe as the most comfortable bed of their lives! Our breakfasts promise to spoil you wholeheartedly! A feast of local produce, home-cooked by Nicola is offered in our family dining room. Hospitality is in our bones and we love the opportunity to interact with our guests. We encourage you to use our local knowledge and have maps of the local area with marked out walks and places to visit. We are happy to book restaurant dinners, visits to golf clubs and other local attractions to make your stay even more enjoyable, and completely hassle-free. As Dog Lovers ourselves, we also invite you to bring your treasured dog and the warmest welcome awaits them.
