We liked everything in The Nook. Morebattle is a charming peaceful idyllic location to unwind and just relax. Stayed here over Easter 2023, for 9 days, and every word of the review we posted for that visit still stands.. Stayed a little longer this Easter, and could quite happily have stayed even longer... A real home from home, with lots of space throughout the cottage, and whilst there were only 2 of us, The Nook could quite easily sleep 4 people. Superb traditional and modern touches throughout.. Welcome bottle of wine upon arrival, as well as milk in the fridge for a nice cup of tea, and heating switched on in advance (by the wonderful Cath)... The Sun was way past 'the yardarm' when we arrived, so naturally, we opted for the wine.. 😊 As usual, host Lawrence is always available to answer any queries which may crop up, and responds very promptly.. So.., overall, our 2nd stay here was every bit as enjoyable as our 1st.. Without doubt...., there will be a 3rd...!!

Welcome to The Nook, Morebattle - A cozy yet simple cottage retreat in the heart of the Scottish Borders. The Nook sits in a friendly and welcoming village which offers a community shop, pub, and easy access to the beautiful footpaths, trails, and towns at the foothills of the Cheviots. Inside you'll find a spacious kitchen diner leading onto a west facing garden, a newly refreshed sitting room, and a shower & drying room. Upstairs you'll find two bedrooms and a further bathroom - with bath!

Morebattle is a quaint little village nestled between the Abbey towns of Jedburgh (8 miles) and Kelso (6 miles), and a sharp bend of Kale Water - which flows into the Teviot just to the west. The name Morebattle finds its origins from the Anglo-Saxon "mere-bodl" meaning "the house by the lake". The lake in question lay in the river valley to the north of today's Morebattle, and was drained in the 1800s. The Borders are renowned for their walks, trails, and scenery - and Morebattle provides the perfect base to explore. St Cuthberts Way, the long distance footpath, passes through the village on its way to Lindisfarne from Melrose; and the Pennine Way ends only 3 miles away in the small village of Kirk Yetholm. The Borders are also full of activities; fishing on Tweed and Teviot, Go Ape in Peebles, and Harestaines country park!
