Bamburgh is one of my personal favourite places ever to visit and stay. The surrounding area is one of the most scenic in the UK with areas of natural beauty, Dark Sky Area, beaches, villages, excellent transport routes to Edinburgh, Newcastle via train or road. Bamburgh has several excellent eateries - The Victoria, The Castle and the Lord Crewe plus the Michelin Starred Potted Lobster - a must visit for fresh seafood lovers. Very easy to walk around or drive, an easy going vibe throughout. Excellent for bringing your furry member of the family who will be spoilt for fun on the beach and the sea - everywhere is dog friendly without exception which is a real hastle free bonus.
The Castle is very historic and a must see - the Utred exhibit was a plus. Great items on display giving you a flavour of the past and the fact it is still a families home is a plus for me. The beach is beautiful and family friendly St Aidan's Church and Crypt are lovely and well worth a visit. You may be lucky and see the florist decorating for a wedding the next day like I did - She did a great job, Beautiful floral arch on the Church doorway.
Bamburgh is a small village dominated by the castle and the beautiful sandy beach and do visit the Grace Darling museum. There are no grocery shops or petrol station so you should be prepared. There are a couple of good cafes and hotel/pubs. More signs to show a traveller how to access the beach would be useful. You can walk along the beach or drive to Seahouses which is bigger and offers a supermarket and several fish and chip restaurants and other shops. From Seahouses take a boat trip to the Farne Islands. In the other direction visit Lindisfarne which is accessed via a causeway which is only open in low tide.
quiet village with some great place to eat. Dominated by the awesome castle. Fabulous beach to sit in or walk along (for miles). Calm, relaxing, and definitely a chance to ;get away from it all'. Easy access to Sea Houses Alnwick (also a beautiful town) and A1.
It has a beautiful beach, an awesome castle, and great local facilities with lots of choices depending on your budget. There is plenty of parking and you are just a mile or so from the much bigger and busier Seahouses.
Lovely village with excellent butchers, ice cream shop, and places to eat. The historic castle is well worth visiting,. Miles of vast sandy beaches and countryside walks on your doorstep. Excellent spot to stay and then travel to other places too; Etal and Ford estates well worth visiting.
