We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
London has a lot of hotspots to see. I mainly went to London for the bookstores and went home with an extra suitcase full of books. The people are friendly especially in restaurants, bars etc. I travelled on my own and so did many other people so making friends in the city isn't that hard. What makes London great is the public transport. Whenever I wanted to take the tube I never had to wait because they ride every minute or so. This makes traveling around in such a big city easy. Will definitely come back soon!
Find the places off the typical tourist routes to see more. Enjoy strolling through the gardens or even along the streets. Pop into or get a bite at the independent shops and restaurants, these are so often the best! Explore a grocery store see what is the same and different. Make sure you enjoy the cream tea at the V & A Museum- in my opinion the best!
We were going to Wembley arena and walked it was a long way ( I believe Booking.com said 1.25 k it was 5k at least … there are really frequent bus’ near the accommodation but didn’t work that out till coming back .
So much too see so little time. Many many occasions I have visited London always find new things to see and do. Take advantage of free museums they are spectacular. You couldnt possibly cover all these on one visit. Theatre is always a must . Cannot beat stage plays and musicals here. Restaurants so much variety to suit all budgets and bars. I found the tube so easy to get around, buses not so, ok if you know the number. Architecture is equal to any great European cities. If your feeling fit walking is simple.good signposting. Take a thames cruise for all the sights down to Greenwich, cutty sark naval college and maritime museum. You won't be disappointed
Camden, London
The apartment had almost everything covered. The appliances were good. The rooms had good bedding and there was Netflix that my kids really enjoyed. The apartment was easy to locate and close to many of London's attraction points. But the management of the apartment should get the highest score. I have been to many hotels, apartments, and other similar facilities, I have never met so kind, understanding, polite, and highly professional hosts. Thank you guys for increasing the stats of great people on this planet.
Great location. Lancaster Gate underground was 2 min walk. Hyde Park was across the street. Paddington Station 7 min walk. Walking distance to Edgware Rd and even Oxford St. From Terminal 2/3 to Paddington is a direct ride on Heathrow Express and only takes 15 min. Hotel was very clean and housekeeping checked room every evening apart from main clean in am. Only observation was the rooms were small but I understand that is not unusual in London.
A nicely decorated boutique hotel in a good central location within walking distance or a short taxi ride to most London sights and theatre. Generally a quiet neighborhood with medical offices and apartments which made it quiet and dark in the evening but still felt safe to walk around. A short walk to restaurants, shopping, and convenience businesses. Typical small European room. Good breakfast restaurant in hotel. Would stay here again.
Hammersmith and Fulham, London
Stayed here for a few nights whilst visiting friends in London. Very good location close to both Shepherds Bush and Hammersmith stations and good shops/cafes nearby for breakfast; Sainsburys directly across the road is very convenient. Easy walking distance to Hammersmith Apollo which is why I chose this area. The room was a decent size and the hotel was sufficient enough for a place to sleep and shower. Cheap prices for the location.
We stay at this hotel a lot, as we use it for a base when we go to see a show in London. It is cheaper than the central London hotels. Blackheath Train Station is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel and 15 minute train journey to Charring Cross. The room are comfortable and clean, the staff are all extremely helpful and there is a good choice of food for Breakfast.
I stayed in many hotels in London, this is the best by a mile. Very nice tour at check-in. Fantastic facilities, and a very comfortable room. I admire that they accommodated my request for quiet room (which is not easy in such bustling area). The Conceirge (Dean) was very helpful and responsive throughout my stay (even before I arrived).
Location was great, staff helpful and attentive to needs. Hotel WIFI was very STABLE !! I was on alot of TCs and never did I have a drop on my MS TEAMs call. This is to be complemented i've been in alot of London Hotels with terrible WIFI that limited work meetings from the hotel room.
Very comfortable room and great service. Bed was comfortable, even had comfortable pillows, which is usually a challenge for me. Breakfast was delicious. We've stayed at two Firmdale hotels now in London, liked them both. This one had a great location, walkable to many places.
It will be hard to find better value for money in London where budget hotels are claustrophobic. This one had a huge room that was made to be comfortable. The location is prime. The price is cheap for London and especially for staying in Kensington. Overall I am happy.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
Used the apartments as a base for our week long holiday in London. Brilliant location, great staff and the accommodation was first class - reckon a hotel would have been a similar price but would have offered significantly less space - felt like a home from home!
Great location in the historic part of London. Rather less expensive than other 5 star hotels nearby. Great stay if you like unusual twist about the place where you are staying - the building previously has been a main police office of the city.
City of London, London
Only 100m from my office, very clean and functional. Good kitchen facility. Functional sofa. Bed comfortable and bathroom good. Pleasant change from staying in in hotels Easy access. Very good value for money and a very satisfactory stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for access to central London, the tube station, (especially convenient for getting to Heathrow) the British Museum and many eating places and theatres.
There was nothing positive about this hotel. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and apartments in London and this is the worst. Also paid more than usual for the privilege.
We were stuck in London because of a storm, so had to quickly chose somewhere to stay for the night so it was easy to book, cheaper than other hotels, staff friendly.
Good value for money! Good location, quiet and light room, even if rather small (but lots of cheaper hotel rooms in London are that small). Modern bathroom.
Camden, London
Reasonable price, good location, good room size. You get what you pay for, much cheaper than most London hotels.
The staff Anna, Ahmed and Annetta made sure that our stay was the best possible! They were professional, courteous, accommodating and made sure every detail was taken care of. Ahmed cooked us a delicious made-to-order English breakfast every morning and front desk staff Anna and Annetta were amazing.
Breakfast excellent, most welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent location.
