We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
From the hotel very easy to catch a bus or tube to any part of the city. Really enjoyed the Tower of London After visiting the Tower and queing to see the crown jewels, enjoyed the quite sanctuary of Allhallows church just across the road where you can enjoy afternoon tea for eight pounds. Sourced the best weather spoons for great food at great price. Outside national gallery and on the edge of Trafalgar square picnic tables and umbrellas . Interactive area of listen to how paintings sound, etc.Great fun for children with plenty of seats for tired parents. Disappointed that Kensington Palace was closed on the day we visited, would loved to have viewed the new Dianna statue.
The tower bridge glass walk wasn’t worth doing. Kensington gardens was really nice and to sit around the pond was relaxing. Had some great food in Granaio Piccadilly - Italian Restaurant and the decor was amazing and classy, definitely recommend the salad with a meal it was tasty. Paddle boating in battersea park was quieter than Hyde park with lots of ducks and dragonflies to see. Transport was never an issue. The fountains around the parks were beautiful especially Hyde park and Marble Arch which were kept very clean.
London and surrounding areas have so much history to share. Within the one square mile of London city, you can see an 800 year old castle directly next to an all glass 21st century multi purpose designed building. It is a very busy city, which isn't helped by it's streets which remain much the same since the 16/1700's (except for pavement)! Fairly easy to navigate on foot with a map app on your phone. Bus stops are well marked, even displaying the names of the tour company buses which stop there. Be prepared to make dinner reservations in advance, even for some of the smaller shops.
London is absolutely huge, there's so much to see, you couldn't be disappointed. Just do your homework properly before you go. Work out exactly where you want to go and how to get there. Taxis/Cabs are very expensive, so Uber is a great option, but still an expensive way to get around, if you're comfortable on the tube/underground that's your best option for getting around, but can be confusing for newbies. We focused on Camden on our free day and it was just amazing. You could spend the whole day there, so much to see and explore. Absolutely tons of food options, street food etc. but again everything was very expensive, we paid around £50 for 2 burgers, chips and 2 soft drinks, and £7 for a pint of beer. But all in all a great experience.
Hotel has a lovely feel to it from the moment you walk through the door. Very traditional English decor giving it a historical, luxurious vibe. Room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Bed & pillows were the comfiest I have ever slept in. Staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good value for money and a lot cheaper than most top end London hotels. Great location for being walking distance to restaurants, bars, theatres and also embankment and Southbank!
I booked this as an alternative to a hotel for a work trip. It’s so much nicer being able to cook for myself and settle down on a sofa rather than dine out alone. Room was spotlessly clean and really well equipped and I had a lovely welcome from Lauren on Reception. I had a great nights sleep and was perfectly placed for the office and the train station. Will definitely stay here again and will recommend to other colleagues travelling to the London office.
This hotel was fantastic.i found all staff front office, restaurant, Housekeeping all. Fantastic. To he location is brilliant close to London , Hyde park as Nd as lol transport links . Don't hesitate if it you won't a nice hotel at a good price nice staff ,Hilton you should be very proud of these staff .I work in the industry and am happy to tell people how wonderful your staff and hotel is .thanks very much .Gary room 473 dep 5,8 ,21
The price seemed cheap compared to other hotels near the area (South Kensington, London) and we enjoyed very much our stay. The hotel was nicer than I expected, the lobby is comfortable and large, there is a starbucks inside, vending machine where we bought a convertor. The room we got was an ok size, small but at the same time organized.
Clean, modern in both the public areas and rooms. Considering this is at a Travelodge and Premier Inn budget hotel price-point, this totally blows both of them away for style and delivery. Room was tiny (it is central London) but it was well designed with lots of storage, comfortable bed and small shower but plentiful hot water.
I loved everything about this hotel. It's beautiful in a great neighborhood right next to the Tube and Hyde Park. Rooms are quiet and cheap for London (i hope the rates will not increase as I would love to stay there again). Staff is helpful and nice. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. I wish I stayed longer! :)
The hotel seems to be recently renovated, the bathroom looked nice and fresh. My room had a terrace, which is rare in the London hotels. The hotel is located just across the street from the Hyde Park and 15 min walk from the Paddington station, which is very convenient if travelling from the Heathrow airport.
Price was amazing, lovely rooms although small didn't bother me. Tea, coffee, water, TV facilities. Very comfortable bed and a fantastic location right near Holborn Tube station. Much much MUCH better value for money than the other commercial hotels in London and UK (Travelodge and Premier Inn).
Balmoral is near Hyde Park (and other popular places to visit) and the Paddington Train, an express connection to Heathrow. The front office staff was very nice and helpful. We felt very secure in the hotel. Self closing and locking doors. The main entrance needed a key to enter also.
I booked a triple room (just to avoid a tight single room) which was right at the front on the ground floor. It’s rather tired in general and a bit outdated like many of the hotels in London that are affordable. Location is excellent and cheap enough with an English breakfast included.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
Used the apartments as a base for our week long holiday in London. Brilliant location, great staff and the accommodation was first class - reckon a hotel would have been a similar price but would have offered significantly less space - felt like a home from home!
City of London, London
Only 100m from my office, very clean and functional. Good kitchen facility. Functional sofa. Bed comfortable and bathroom good. Pleasant change from staying in in hotels Easy access. Very good value for money and a very satisfactory stay.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
The situation in London was good. One underground station very near incl. Piccadilly line. Both cheap and not cheap restaurants around. The big museums in walking distance. Many hotels around, too.
The location was very good, near Hyde Park, close to bus stations and supermarkets. I do not know how is the breakfast in other hotels in London but in this hotel it was minimal.
Great location, comfortable bed. The bathroom had an actual tub which is rare for hotels in London. High ceilings which made the room feel less cramped.
Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Old age charm in a luxerious setting, cosy and very welcoming. Rooms are large compared to other London hotels.
The location is great and the room size is decent compared to other hotels in London. The front desk were kind enough to upgrade my room upon arrival.
Friendly staff, better breakfast than expected and Cheap hotels hard to find in London
Cheap enough for London. Safer than going to small hotels / hostels.
very clean and spacious rooms in comparison to other hotels in london
