Shangri-La The Shard, London, Royal Lancaster London, and Intercontinental London - The O2, an IHG Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in London.
We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
The o2 arena was excellent and the icon shopping centre had a good array of shops and restaurants. There are lots of activities to do here and security is excellent and very visible. Getting here is really easy, as lots of different modes of transport and reasonable priced.
I love it although it is becoming VERY crowded. There is always lots of things to visit and see. It is my 6th time there; 4th time as tourist and I always find more interesting places and sights. study the TUBE carefully and you will see how efficient it is.
London will always be home for me. It's just that I was unfortunate to book in a hotel where not everyone is valued as a client. I have reason to say this, reason I am not going to say out. When I got to London I felt immediately connected to everything because it has been home to me for twelve years. I love the efficient transport system and the unparalleled spirit of most Londoners. You are never alone even if you don't have your immediate family. Even if even Londoners are so much busy, when you ask for directions, they always treat you with so much respect. For me, that's the epitome of civilisation.
Best city in the world! There are endless things to do which might make you overwhelmed of decision making. However the nightlife ends early unless you go to night clubs ofcourse! The only bad thing in UK is the food, even the international food there taste weird and salt might be an unknown mineral in London let alone the brittish food
Great hotel! I’ve stayed in numerous big and small hotels in London and numerous flats over the years and the Rockwell is the only one I’d return to without giving it a second thought. At the risk of saying too much and jeopardize my ability to reserve again this hotel was fantastic. I had a garden room that was spacious with a good sized bathroom and small but functional and enjoyable outside area - perfect for a drink in the afternoon Sun. It was like having a small flat without a kitchen.
I chose this hotel because I had to take the Heathrow Express train at Paddington Station early the next day. The hotel is extremely convenient to Paddington Station --- just a few steps away. The staff people were very pleasant with helpful attitudes. My room was of a good size --- larger than in most London 3 and 4 star hotels. The room and bathroom were clean and modern and had a pleasant modern décor. My room was quiet, facing the side or back.
I booked this as an alternative to a hotel for a work trip. It’s so much nicer being able to cook for myself and settle down on a sofa rather than dine out alone. Room was spotlessly clean and really well equipped and I had a lovely welcome from Lauren on Reception. I had a great nights sleep and was perfectly placed for the office and the train station. Will definitely stay here again and will recommend to other colleagues travelling to the London office.
A nicely decorated boutique hotel in a good central location within walking distance or a short taxi ride to most London sights and theatre. Generally a quiet neighborhood with medical offices and apartments which made it quiet and dark in the evening but still felt safe to walk around. A short walk to restaurants, shopping, and convenience businesses. Typical small European room. Good breakfast restaurant in hotel. Would stay here again.
The room was a good size for London hotels. Very clean. Check in very slick though they had the wrong dates - thankfully I had my booking.com confirmation and they had availability. Great location just next to Southwark tube. Can't comment on the restaurant/dining facilities as didn't use them. The complimentary water in the rooms was gratefully received.
GORGEOUS hotel and right in Victoria Station but so quiet! I couldn't believe it was priced so cheaply for London considering it is one of the most historic hotels in the area. Our room, which they upgraded for free, was fabulous and the included minibar was a nice touch. Couldn't ask for a better location or value for how nice the property was.
Room was a good size, bed was very big. Breakfast was a good continental but did look like they were not expecting many guests to have breakfast. That may be common for London hotels. The hotel is close to Paddington station and close to Hyde Park which was ideal for us. It was also cheap by London standards. The staff were courteous and polite.
The price seemed cheap compared to other hotels near the area (South Kensington, London) and we enjoyed very much our stay. The hotel was nicer than I expected, the lobby is comfortable and large, there is a starbucks inside, vending machine where we bought a convertor. The room we got was an ok size, small but at the same time organized.
Located in a great, central area of London. Staff was really nice. We had a very enjoyable evening in the hotel bar. Good amenities and very comfortable bed. The hotel decorations and 'exhibitions' reminded us of hotels you would normally find in Amsterdam.
The location: close to the Victoria train and coach station It was quiet, which is nice and I didn't experience in hotels of this price range in London. The staff was welcoming and very understanding of my situation for check-out (super early in the morning).
The location of the hotel is excellent. Five minutes walk to Tottenham Court Road tube station and five minutes from the London Museum. The apartments have there own access so it was independent from the hotel and felt like our own little place for the weekend.
Nice spacious room with great amenities. Staff were very helpful and made our stay extremely comfortable. The suite we booked wasn't exactly cheap but even so, I believe it was pretty good value for money having stayed in many London hotels.
Can’t fault it- cheap and clean modern rooms in central London - amazing location , small rooms but modern and clean - good tv and channels - friendly helpful staff- when I come back to London j shall def be looking to stay with Z hotels again
30 pounds a nite middle of London can't beat this I read reviews before I choose hotels can't get some serial monors want 5 star service at 3 star prices
Very nice room with lots of nice touches. Good to see the mini bar filled, not the case in some other London hotels. Will likely stay again.
Cheap for a hotel in london
The hotel is great and has very nice atmosphere! My room was deluxe queen quite tiny. I was expecting a bit more space. Though I had everything I needed and on the TV they even have video yoga class what made me very entertained for 30 min!!!))) Fridge was practically empty with still water in it, thats it. But for a reason! The bar downstairs is just a must-visit space! Gorgeous with very nice cocktails! Very tricky system to take the elevator but after couple of times you get used to. Very quite and very good soundproof!! Just at the corner of Marble Arch tube station!
Breakfast excellent, most welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent location.
The staff are so friendly and helpful
