Make sure you go to the FREE museums - like the Victoria and Albert; Natural HistoryTate and British Museum (and more). The FREE art galleries - Tate Modern and the National Gallery. You could spend days in each one. Take a walk along the Thames River - or ride on one of the Thames River Clippers. London can be very expensive, but there are lots of free things that will really give you a feel for the city.
London is possibly one of the best cities in the world. If it’s not in London it doesn’t exist. Plenty of culture and a million things to see. It can be, or it is in fact expensive but if you are shrewd you’ll get great accommodation reasonably cheaply. It’s a big, big place but the Underground makes it very easy to get around. Everyone from everywhere must see London at least once in their lifetime.
London is spread out so I recommend for first and even second time visitors to take the hop on hop off bus to see the various neighborhoods. The metro underground system really is the best way to get around otherwise since there is a lot of traffic. I recommend visiting these sites or downloading the APPS. 1. visitacity.com 2. Timeout.com/London I particularly love visiting the open flea/vintage and farmers markets so just Google that information.
Easy to do daytrips to Cambridge, Bath, Oxford, Brighton and Salisbury. Don't forget Greenwich and the Royal Observatory and the Royal Maritime Museum. Buy yourself an Oyster Card and go easily around by bus and tube,
I love London, the history, places to visits, good restaurants, lively, always something going on. I have visited many times. However, be very careful where you stay - the place I stayed in was the pits and I wouldn't stay in this hotel again Also just a thought - the PCs are very few and far between!!
Love the range of activities to do when visiting London. There's such great transport links, you're never waiting too long for a tube or bus, even the option of using the Thames boat to visit the Quay areas is good. Love the diverse mix of people. It feels welcoming and embraces difference. Like many cities most restaurants quite expensive when eating out as a family. Great to see historical and iconic buildings, museums and art galleries.
Clean rooms and facilities. Breakfast Buffet is worth it, I suggest you include it on your booking, cheaper and kids eat free. We can start our touristy trips and not worry about food till late lunch, same menu everyday, but decent choices/variety. Hotel location is great, walking distance to Borough Market where you have tons of food/restaurant options. It's right next to St. Paul's Cathedral and a few miles to London Bridge, London Eye and Tower Bridge. Few minutes walk to Bus Stations and the Tube.
Booked the deluxe room - really bright, airy and unusual design (loved the while curtains and open space) and huge (over 400 sq ft) by central London standards. Have stayed at a lot of hotels in London, but this is definitely in the top 3, and I will definitely stay here again. Great location too - just off Oxford Street, but a lovely quieter street with lots of lovely restaurants and bars close by. The rates were really good too. Overall very happy with the Sanderson and I would highly recommend it.
This simple hotel is fantastically close to the Paddington Station and is surrounded by grocery stores (in the station), pubs and cafes in a safe, vibrant neighborhood. The room is very clean and cozy, but is extremely small with minimal amenities. I appreciated the clean shower and cable TV. Overall, compared to other no-frills, budget hotels in London, the Tudor Court Hotel is excellent value for money in a great location IF you can negotiate the somewhat confined space.
Camden, London
Coming back to London regularly and having been to different apartments and hotels I can say this apartment was the best accommodation I have ever had. It was modern, absolutely clean, well equipped and well kept. The bed was extremely comfortable. The tube station is just a 2-minutes walk away. The area is nice and just a 20 minutes ride from Green Park. Everything in the building is modern and new. Getting in with all the information provided in advance was very easy!
Just what we needed - clean, quiet rooms for one night, at a very reasonable price, within walking distance of the Albert Hall. What surprised me was how high spec this hotel was, and how roomy my room was; I've stayed in a lot of cheap hotels in London, and this was by far the smartest, cleanest one I have ever stayed in. Also, the guy on reception was very friendly and humorous, which made a pleasant change. I would definitely stay here again!
The location is perfect for exploring London - it's just north of Kensington Park. It's particularly perfect if you're traveling with a toddler, as we were, because of its proximity to the Diana Memorial Playground. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, and the staff is accommodating and helpful. We liked the hotel so much that we stayed there at both ends of our England vacation, for multiple nights.
This hotel is in a great location for visiting London attractions. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and the London underground is literally on your doorstep. I chose to stay here as I was in London for work and the office was just a 10 minute walk away. There are also four supermarkets along Baker Street if you need to pop in for anything. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good.
The price seemed cheap compared to other hotels near the area (South Kensington, London) and we enjoyed very much our stay. The hotel was nicer than I expected, the lobby is comfortable and large, there is a starbucks inside, vending machine where we bought a convertor. The room we got was an ok size, small but at the same time organized.
Large, clean room in a perfect location for London exploring and trains. Cheaper than the Premier Inn and significantly larger and more comfortable, so I worked from there in the morning rather than head to the office straightaway. Easy transfer to City Thameslink or Blackfriars, and very close to the sites at Bank or Southbank.
I stay in a lot of cheap hotels in London and this is my least favourite. The single bed was not a proper bed. It was a metal camp bed that sagged in the middle so it was very uncomfortable. I think the minimum you can expect from these cheap hotels is an actual proper bed
Second time I have stayed at the Sidney hotel apartments. They are comfortable, well equipped and reasonably priced. The reception is good and provides all necessary help when checking in. Nice apartments for a short business stay in London
We stayed here for around 3 months and it's been the best experience we had so far out of all the apartments and hotels we stayed at. The staff, rooms and location are excellent and it's a great place for a long or short stay.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
I loved staying at Portobello serviced apartments and will book again next time in London. Perfect location, clean, nothing was missing in the room. So much better than a hotel, felt more local and relaxed, and better value.
Cheaper than a lot of budget hotels in London. 3 minute walk away from a train station, with a Nandos! Train station is on the Jubilee Line so the O2 Arena only 15 minutes away. Easy enough to walk to Londons attractions.
i had a one night layover in London so i took Heathrow Express to Paddington the hotel was perfectly close and had an amazing location overlooking a small garden. It was clean and cozy
Good value for money. Despite it’s not so cheap, comparing with hotel prices in London, it’s fine. Location is 7-8 minutes walking to the underground station.
I stay in a lot of cheap hotels in London and this one was fine. Stayed heart 3 times. Room and bathroom was small but as expected.
