Travelers who stayed in London near London Gatwick Airport (LGW) have said good things about Sofitel London Gatwick, Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport, and Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport.
Nice to know before you go: British Museum: Japanese section closed without any warning anywhere except in loco National Portret Gallery: closed London Museum; on the docks until 2025 The Underground: when switching lines you will walk at least half a mile, they don't pay you for this, you will have to pay them. Sometimes there are lifts, sometimes not. Check!
Visit London a lot. Always stay in a different area to absorb the vibe and culture on your doorstep, this time canary Wharfe - too sterile for us but great if you are an underground shopper. Never miss a Covent garden trip and a beer in Mr Foggs. Love using the river boats to get about quicker - amazing skyline. We had an O2 Mamma Mia party experience which is a must do, Bumbled around Greenwich, interesting few hours around Cutty Sark and climb the mast. History afternoon around maritime museum and lunch in The gypsy Moth. All easy access via boat, tube & DLF.....but we always walk our socks off.
Very expensive. If you are going on a day out, expect to pay lots. Tourist attractions take photos and will charge you 20-30 pounds to keep the photo. Street food is not cheap. Attractions were very busy and I went in March. Architecture is nice. Overall seemed clean. I felt safe (I was travelling as 3 teens). Compared to Ireland, grocery shops have plenty of vegan options and food in general is more affordable from grocery shops. Trains costed more than I expected. If you are not staying in the city centre I recommend getting a travel pass. Book tickets ahead of time for attractions and arrive a little early as the queues are very long. If you arrive too early they will ask you to leave the queue. Lots of street performers near touristy places. The park next to Buckingham Palace is well worth a visit. Such beautiful nature and birds/animals, many of which are friendly.
Covent Garden was lovely with the markets with lots of bars and restaurants I would also recommend the River Cruise with Lunch on board and Historic tour it was really good value for money other than that the theatres speak for themselves they are plentyful and lots of shows to choose from
It was amazing I travelled alone and had the best 2 days ever I stayed in Wimbledon but I visited the buddhist temple twice and Buckingham Palace ...big Ben... the London Eye all in 2 days oh and watched Swan lake in the theatre ... I will be returning in the future
We find that walking rather than taking the tube everywhere, if you are able to, means we find quieter areas, there are so many small parks dotted around, perfect for a rest if needed (depending on weather, of course). You don't have to go far to find an area that feels more relaxed and 'village' like than the busy hustle, bustle of the main city areas. Combining days of staying in the city centre and walking with using the tube to get to other areas, such as Greenwich, has meant we get more out of our visits to London. We try to use smaller, local places to eat, not the major companies/franchises, this can a lot of the time mean better quality, freshly prepared food at more reasonable prices, better service and no queues.
I stayed in a great location, there was a metro just a two minute walk away. I went all over London with two tube lines. Also, I took the only metro from Heathrow airport to the front of the hotel and after check out went back.Everything was new in the hotel, I loved the white clean bedding sets. I was able to work comfortably with my computer because it had a desk and a lamp. Check in and check out was very easy on smart-lock keypad with the my password . I guess I stayed so cheap because the hotel was first opened.
Nice hotel in a good part of London. Quite expensive, but I think that is what most similar hotels in the area charge. Very convenient for Gloucester Road Tube. Quite a few shops nearby, including an excellent Sainsbury's. Again one of the hotels that pre-covid used to serve breakfast, but no longer does - or did not when I stayed. There were however various places nearby for breakfast which the staff could recommend. Would be happy to stay again if I could not find anywhere cheaper. Staff on Reception nice.
Hackney, London
I stay in London for work nearly every week and have been trying out many many different hotels and apartments, but this was by far the best. Really easy to get to, really friendly staff, gorgeous decor and the studio itself was very cool. Fab decor, everything I needed to cook for myself and eat at a proper table! It was also spotless and I could not hear any noise from the other rooms. Oh and the bed was SO comfortable. Nevermind one night...I could happily live there (and the bar was a real bonus).
Booked the deluxe room - really bright, airy and unusual design (loved the while curtains and open space) and huge (over 400 sq ft) by central London standards. Have stayed at a lot of hotels in London, but this is definitely in the top 3, and I will definitely stay here again. Great location too - just off Oxford Street, but a lovely quieter street with lots of lovely restaurants and bars close by. The rates were really good too. Overall very happy with the Sanderson and I would highly recommend it.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
Exceptional hotel, fabulous apartments, spotless clean and equipped with everything you just need. The welcome package with bread, milk, cookies and coffee/tea was really nice touch. We appreciated very friendly staff and all the facilities. It really exceeded our expectations. The location is just the best in London. It is situated in the central part, but quiet and really not crowded. I highly recommend this property and it will be definitely our stay for the next time in London.
Wood Green Metro station is 2 minutes walk away from the hotel - you can take the picadelly line directly to the centre of London. We stayed in the cheapest 2-person room, and I would describe it as 'spartan' but nice. There was a super small double bed, a chair, and a small drawer. Though the bed was super small, it was actually really comfortable. The room was cheap compared to other hotels in London so you get what you pay for! I would definitely stay there again 🫡
London
It was all very good, the bedroom and bathroom were well equipped and comfortable, everything worked, the food was excellent and the staff friendly. It has a pleasant location in Wimbledon Village, about 20 minutes invigorating walk from Wimbledon tube / train station but also on a bus route. I would like to stay here again if I'm working in West London or visiting the city. It is better value than the chain hotels and a much nicer experience.
Really comfortable room, very clean and very pleasant staff. Me and my partner generally tend to stay at very high-end hotels and, in this case, didn't have a choice but to stay in Canary Wharf/Blackwall but were really happy with this hotel. If you're looking for something that's easily accessible in terms of getting into central London, definitely give this a try
The hotel seems to be recently renovated, the bathroom looked nice and fresh. My room had a terrace, which is rare in the London hotels. The hotel is located just across the street from the Hyde Park and 15 min walk from the Paddington station, which is very convenient if travelling from the Heathrow airport.
The room was in the good size comparing to other hotels in London at the same price. We satisfied with standards of the hotel. It looked better than in was in the pictures. The location was also nice, within the working distance to Paddington Station, Bayswater tube station and bus stop to Oxford Street.
Westminster Borough, London
Excellent location, super clean, seemed brand new and modern (recent refurbishment??), comfortable bed, huge TV, mini kitchenette with micro. I've stayed in 5* hotels in london that were not as good. Lift (although goes up to 3rd floor). There is a 4th floor that you walk to from the 3rd.
Staff is friendly. The bed is comfortable. Lo e the blue light in the bathroom for use at night (red would be even friendlier ontheeyes). Breakfast is great, to the standard I expect for this brand and price. Compared to the cheaper hotels it's good value for money by London prices.
Typical London hotel for that part of town. A tall terrace that was cheap and cheerful enough with good breakfast included. Staff friendly. Breakfast room could be bigger but the excellent sausages and tea bags would put far more expensive hotels to shame.
I often stay in cheaper hotels in London, and this was one of the best I’ve experienced. scrupulously clean, quiet and with a really top quality mattress and pillow/duvet. I slept great. Friendly bloke at reception too.
Comfortable, clean modern hotel, well located near Waterloo Station. Often relatively cheap which makes it very attractive when London is full, especially compared with similarly priced, vastly inferior hotels...
Camden, London
amazing property. almost all properties in London is not spacious at all. including all major 5 star hotels. however this property is fabulous, spacious and really nice, supportive staff members.
Very Clean and modern rooms, if a little small (to be expected with Victorian hotels in London though). Shower very good. Great location midway between city and Heathrow Airport.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
The apartment was bigger and nicer than expected, definitely nicer than other similarly-priced hotels in London. Ideal location.
location, staff, comfortable, one of the best hotels I’ve in London
