We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
Thoroughly enjoyed seeing 4 shows while there. Also took the Uber Boats up and down the Thames getting on and off at different stops finishing at Embankment. Trip to Northampton and a visit to Althorp Estate and Princess Diana's gravesite and memorial was a highlight. Tours to Stonehenge, Bath, Windsor Castle, Tower of London were all fantastic, highly recommended. I could have spent another week seeing the south side of the Thames. If you go, just hop on the double decker red buses and ride baby ride. Uber and taxi service was also as good as the Tube. Study the tube and it will make your trip so much easier! While in Shepherds Bush we frequented Bocconi's (excellent Italian) and Liz's for breakfast (right next door to Bocconi's). Several pubs nearby were also excellent for a pint after a long day of touring. Get to the Westfield mall just a few steps away to the north. The mall is immense!
A vibrant, fast and energetic city with both modern and historical souls. It makes you really feel like at the centre of the world because of the various people and cultures that come together. It is possible to try cuisines from all over the world. Lots of parks and green in general. The transports are well organised, making it very easy to get used to moving around the city. Culture isn't underestimated with free museums and activities.
Great break with a mixture of sightseeing, taking in a concert and good food. Plan what you would like to do and visit before arriving. Make sure you take comfy shoes. Prebook an restaurants you definitely want to visit.
From the hotel very easy to catch a bus or tube to any part of the city. Really enjoyed the Tower of London After visiting the Tower and queing to see the crown jewels, enjoyed the quite sanctuary of Allhallows church just across the road where you can enjoy afternoon tea for eight pounds. Sourced the best weather spoons for great food at great price. Outside national gallery and on the edge of Trafalgar square picnic tables and umbrellas . Interactive area of listen to how paintings sound, etc.Great fun for children with plenty of seats for tired parents. Disappointed that Kensington Palace was closed on the day we visited, would loved to have viewed the new Dianna statue.
Kensington and Chelsea, London
This place deserves a perfect mark 10/10. I am a frequent traveler to London and I stayed in various hotels and apartments and I can say confidently that 130 Queen's gate is among the best and it is a true 5 star property. Location is ideal , facilities are new and modern. Daily room service is complete. Friendly , welcoming ,helpful and smiling faces caring staff are always available to help. Apartment space is adequate . Facility is always kept clean. I will definitely return there if I am in the south Kensington area.
Hotel has a lovely feel to it from the moment you walk through the door. Very traditional English decor giving it a historical, luxurious vibe. Room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Bed & pillows were the comfiest I have ever slept in. Staff helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good value for money and a lot cheaper than most top end London hotels. Great location for being walking distance to restaurants, bars, theatres and also embankment and Southbank!
The hotel was full The room wasn’t clear enough The service in reception was delaying we spent 1 hour for check in For another time I am thinking that is better the small boutique hotels or the luxury apartments they are cheaper then hostess are respecting you and you don’t spend your time for check in or asking . The swimming pool was full of children . So can’t enjoy it.
The price seemed cheap compared to other hotels near the area (South Kensington, London) and we enjoyed very much our stay. The hotel was nicer than I expected, the lobby is comfortable and large, there is a starbucks inside, vending machine where we bought a convertor. The room we got was an ok size, small but at the same time organized.
It is really difficult to find a comfortable hotel in London at a reasonable price. London House may not be the very cheapest but I've stayed in similar priced hotels that have been much worse. The room was a decent size, clean, the breakfast was adequate (cereal, pastries, toast, fruit, ham and cheese) and the staff were friendly.
I loved everything about this hotel. It's beautiful in a great neighborhood right next to the Tube and Hyde Park. Rooms are quiet and cheap for London (i hope the rates will not increase as I would love to stay there again). Staff is helpful and nice. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. I wish I stayed longer! :)
Balmoral is near Hyde Park (and other popular places to visit) and the Paddington Train, an express connection to Heathrow. The front office staff was very nice and helpful. We felt very secure in the hotel. Self closing and locking doors. The main entrance needed a key to enter also.
Good location, less than 10 mins from Earls Court underground. Staff is friendly.and helpful. In comparison with most London hotels, it's modern and nicely decorated. Frankly very far from a nice hotel but it's relatively cheap and you get what you pay for.
Great location in the historic part of London. Rather less expensive than other 5 star hotels nearby. Great stay if you like unusual twist about the place where you are staying - the building previously has been a main police office of the city.
City of London, London
Only 100m from my office, very clean and functional. Good kitchen facility. Functional sofa. Bed comfortable and bathroom good. Pleasant change from staying in in hotels Easy access. Very good value for money and a very satisfactory stay.
Great location and it was the cheapest available when we booked. By that I mean at a decent standard. London is very expensive for hotels again now that it’s open for business post pandemic.
The location was very good, near Hyde Park, close to bus stations and supermarkets. I do not know how is the breakfast in other hotels in London but in this hotel it was minimal.
The location of the hotel was perfect for a quick hop over the bridge into the office. And it was also perfect to take in some of the tourist options London has to offer
Great location, comfortable bed. The bathroom had an actual tub which is rare for hotels in London. High ceilings which made the room feel less cramped.
Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Old age charm in a luxerious setting, cosy and very welcoming. Rooms are large compared to other London hotels.
The location is great and the room size is decent compared to other hotels in London. The front desk were kind enough to upgrade my room upon arrival.
Just very smart, not what I've experienced before with cheaper London hotels.
Very good apartments in this Hotel !! The best destination in central of London.
very clean and spacious rooms in comparison to other hotels in london
Breakfast excellent, most welcoming and helpful staff. Excellent location.
