I visited London several years ago and hated the place...

I visited London several years ago and hated the place... We returned due to my Daughters dance school and decided to take in some shopping and shows making a small holiday of it. London has certainly lost it's identity of English culture now overtaken by a British or should I say "Multicultural" influence over all shops / services and cuisine options. Certainly the streets and buildings of London itself felt much better cared for, and cleaner than several years ago which I found positive change. The main purpose of our visit was to see several shows though which were amazing, I do not know how such amazing visuals and audial experiences are created but I thank each and every performer, musician and member of the operational teams for their efforts and hope they continue to do so, and be supported by local mayors, councils and government to do so. Without them, London would absolutely be nothing than a large, overpriced outdoor shopping centre. While here, we saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and again were a) Lucky with the weather and b) In awe of the level of professionalism. If you get the chance to see this, please go. I especially LOVED the bands Bond medley here, just brilliant. To get around we walked as the weather was good, used taxi to get to the palace which was great as the taxi driver advised us on best viewpoints and dropped us off much closer than anyone else arriving by other means. Over the course of the week, London grew on me and I would certainly go back but it will take some weeks of saving up to experience all that this City has to offer.

The hotel is on a pleasant square with a garden in front and is only a short walk from Earl’s Court station. We had a room in the basement with a window looking up to the street which was an interesting change. The room was a reasonable size with a private bathroom. It was comfortable and the staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. London is always going to be expensive so the hotel isn’t cheap but it is reasonably priced for the city and a good alternative to the more expensive hotels nearer the centre.

Great location. if you are okay using the Underground you can get anywhere and with the addition of the Elizabeth line recently it makes getting around even easier. Nice breakfast to start the day especially as it can be hard to find an early morning breakfast in England. Also, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are a hidden gem in London for lovers of green spaces. since they are west of most sights they get overlooked. We walked from the hotel down through the park over to Buckingham and had a great time.

I've stayed at the Balham Lodge on previous occasions. It's a cheap'n'cheerful spot in part of London where I have a good friend, so although it may appear a bit off the beaten track, it's actually easy to reach on public transport and a nice, quiet locale. Unusually for cheap hotels/b&b-s in London, the rooms (at least the ones I've stayed in) have decent-sized bathrooms and good quality showers. Facilities are clean, fairly basic and no one could reasonably expect any more at these prices.

Lovely, friendly guy greeted us on arrival, happily gave us advice on getting around London. Our twin room was spacious for London. Very clean throughout and comfortable beds. The tea and coffee facilities and fridge were a bonus too. We were very happy with everything for the price we paid - it was cheaper than most hotels we've stayed in and much nicer. The location was great too - just around the corner from Baker Street station with plenty of eating establishments a short walk away.

Hotel is decent, near the Paddington tube station. It's not at all high end, but then it's also far cheaper than higher end hotels, and is still in a relative decent location close to the tube line and railway station. Rooms were quite small, but par for the course in London hotels of this category. Room was cleaned well and we had no complaints with any staff members. Basic hotel, but decent value for the price and good location near Hyde part and transportation services.

Good location, short walk to Praed Street and Edgware Road with a multitude of shops and supermarkets, including M&S Food and Waitrose. A 15 minutes walk will take you to either Paddington or Edgware Road tube stations, with Paddington been your arrival station if you catching the train from Heathrow airport. The hotel apartments are ultra modern with soft touch light switches and all the appliances you would need. The staff is attentive and friendly.

We loved the location, great value for money and the apartments give you extra facilities. The staff were all really nice and friendly and breakfast was great. We would definitely stay again, hotels in London are notoriously small roomed and expensive so the space and location were great value and some lovely touches (potion making was fab, white company toiletries and nice bedding and towels)

Perfect hotel for a stay in London! The Covent Gardens area is fantastic and this hotel is right in the heart of it. The room was a huge size (with two floors, which I've never seen in a hotel before haha). Very comfortable bed and large-sized bathroom! Would definitely recommend it. The location, as described, was excellent. Just a brief walk to the tube, a Tesco right across the street for some forgotten items, and coffee and a post office nearby all helped. Also, this was one of the few hotels that we could find that would sleep three to a room without using a sofa bed.
