Travelers who stayed in London near London Gatwick Airport (LGW) have said good things about Sofitel London Gatwick, Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport, and Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport.
We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
I love the history and how easy it is to get around the city. There are so many things to see and do. It is also a good homebase for day trips. We took a day trip to Oxford and a day trip to Morton and Marsh snd Stratford upon Avon. We even fell upon a couple of things we didn’t know we would see and we’re very happy about that. I would not recommend bringing small children here though. It’s the city and a very busy place and would be very hard to handle luggage with a lot of kids. I do suggest going to Saint James Palace to Watch the changing of the guard as you can march along with them all the way to Buckingham palace. I would suggest only taking the black cabs as they are very friendly I know exactly where they are going. Another company charged double. Hide parking Kensington Gardens were nice but it had been hot and the grass was brown and there are no flowers. A lot of walking.
Londres é sensacional! Restaurantes: Bancone, applebuttercafe (brunch), seabird, the kitchen mayfair e o The connaught Bar!! Bairros: Covent Garden, Mayfair (mais luxuoso), Soho e london central - vale a pena conhecer Museu: The design museum (simples, mas muito bacana), Victoria albert museum Sentar perto da Westminster Bridge para um drink, simplesmente divino!
London is a very big city, with nice historical places to visit. If you want to avoid long waiting lines, defiantly take the tickets in advance, especially if the weather is nice, the places tend to be full.
London was fantastic, The tube is an experience but the TfL go app was a good help! Buckingham Palace and just walking down the Mall was wonderful. Friday night we ate at a restaurant on the side of the river Thames called Tavolini’s the food was excellent and also was the service. Highly recommended. Saturday night we saw a show at the Lyceum Theatre which was Lion King and honestly it was the best show I had ever seen, highly recommended. The list is endless. London a must do!!
Great location. Lancaster Gate underground was 2 min walk. Hyde Park was across the street. Paddington Station 7 min walk. Walking distance to Edgware Rd and even Oxford St. From Terminal 2/3 to Paddington is a direct ride on Heathrow Express and only takes 15 min. Hotel was very clean and housekeeping checked room every evening apart from main clean in am. Only observation was the rooms were small but I understand that is not unusual in London.
clearly thought out in the design of these apartments. ideal for couples or friends. just over the road from both Stratford international (6 minutes to London St Pancras) and also the DLR connections to the tube next to the stations is Westfield shopping centre next door to hotel a large sainburys supermarket for essentials excellent place and only two stops from the Abba arena
Southwark, London
I booked for the location as an expats returning to London for a visit. There is so much around the hotel in terms of shops, restaurants as well as easy transport links. The room was a great size and really cozy and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Having stayed at a few hotels in this area, I would definitely choose The Native again when returning to London.
The price seemed cheap compared to other hotels near the area (South Kensington, London) and we enjoyed very much our stay. The hotel was nicer than I expected, the lobby is comfortable and large, there is a starbucks inside, vending machine where we bought a convertor. The room we got was an ok size, small but at the same time organized.
This is a fantastic hotel right in the centre of Londons west end. The staff are very polite and helpful, drinks and food prices are the cheapest you will find anywhere locally and the rooms, although small are perfectly formed with everything you need and absolutely spotless. Would highly recommend this hotels.
Rooms clean and service was good. I'm staying there again tonight. This is my new favourite central London hotel. IV told my office to book me here when I'm in London which is several times a week. There is local shops and take away food within walking distance and a Sainsbury's close.
I booked a triple room (just to avoid a tight single room) which was right at the front on the ground floor. It’s rather tired in general and a bit outdated like many of the hotels in London that are affordable. Location is excellent and cheap enough with an English breakfast included.
The location was great and the staff friendly and responsive. We had an electrical issue with our room that was fixed promptly. It's a cheaper alternative to many of the other hotels in the area and was a comfortable place to rest up after exploring busy London.
Tower Hamlets, London
Excellent hostel, super friendly at reception giving info to people all the time. Good beds, clean rooms, secure lockers and very good showers. Ideal for a cheap London stay, I’ve been in many worse hotels in London for many times the price. Highly recommended
City of London, London
Only 100m from my office, very clean and functional. Good kitchen facility. Functional sofa. Bed comfortable and bathroom good. Pleasant change from staying in in hotels Easy access. Very good value for money and a very satisfactory stay.
Westminster Borough, London
I wouldn't spend my honeymoon there, but the Carlton is a great value, cheap no frills hotel, in great Central London location. The room was perfectly clean. All transport links close by. Close to London tourist sites.
Great location - Right near shopping centres / city life , restaurants/bars etc . Cheap weekend rate compared to most if not all hotels across London rated 3 star and above 24:7 reception service LED lighting
Comfortable, clean modern hotel, well located near Waterloo Station. Often relatively cheap which makes it very attractive when London is full, especially compared with similarly priced, vastly inferior hotels...
Kensington and Chelsea, London
The situation in London was good. One underground station very near incl. Piccadilly line. Both cheap and not cheap restaurants around. The big museums in walking distance. Many hotels around, too.
Great location and it was the cheapest available when we booked. By that I mean at a decent standard. London is very expensive for hotels again now that it’s open for business post pandemic.
The location as it is near the tubes or in another word Metro station and in addition the Hyde park is very near and the size of the room is very spacious compared to other hotels in London
great location and was well priced at the time. I would say that the rooms need to be refurbished as the furniture was a bit dated and old like other London hotels
Extremely good place and good breakfast. The bar is nice and bed was good. London prices are high, yet this not expensive compared to other hotels.
Very good apartments in this Hotel !! The best destination in central of London.
Everything. From the moment the taxi dropped us off at the door to the time we checked out, the experience at the hotel was top notch. The Ritz prides itself on exceptional service and they delivered that in spades. Of course, at this time of year, everyone comes in to see the Christmas Tree in the lobby, so lot's of people come and go. There is so much energy - it felt like THE place to be. We had a fabulous room - a one bedroom suite - on the 6th floor that overlooked Green Park. Breakfasts were plentiful - one could select from the buffet as well as a la carte - and one has to love the "a la minute" preparation of the hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict. As I mentioned, the service is exceptional - my wife and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
