Travelers who stayed in London near London Gatwick Airport (LGW) have said good things about Sofitel London Gatwick, Premier Inn London Gatwick Airport - North Terminal, and Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport.
We usually come to London between Christmas and New Year and it’s lovely but this year was extremely busy so we couldn’t do as much. We gave up on madame tussauds even though we prebooked our tickets as the queues were 3hrs long! Instead we got a cab to Covent Garden where we ambled around listening to street opera and magicians which always make it worth going there. This time we visited a restaurant called Tuttons and only waited 10-15 minutes for a table for five so pretty good. Beautiful carpaccio starter but I chose badly the main course and should have kept it Italian! They make some lovely cocktails which I recommend! Cable cars over the river were a thrill as they’re much higher than we imagined. Our accommodation was the Sunborn Yacht Hotel at Canary Wharf which I’ve reviewed also. Fantastic place to stay instead of a normal hotel and will return for a romantic weekend next time, leaving the rest of the family at home 😆. The only way to travel is by cab as they know everything and you rarely get ripped off especially if it’s a real Londoner driving. River taxis are also a great ride for sightseeing and they certainly do move fast. Of course everywhere you go there is something to see especially when it comes to beautiful architecture through the ages. The new Lego store is awesome!!! All in all a great visit.
The hotel overall was good. Room was small but it seems like ALL rooms mostly are limited in space but we were able to move around comfortably. For my first time in London it might have been far from the major tourist areas and it was always a 20 min metro ride but it was walking distance to Notting Hill. The neighborhood its in is really nice and quiet so sleep was great.
To tell you the truth, I was not our first visit to London. There are several special places and landmarks to see. This time, we stayed on the corner Notting Hill corner of Hyde Park. Due to that fact, we explored this part of the city - Hyde park, Natural museum, Science museum and the Westfield shopping mall. Moreover, we walked through Oxford street until we reached the Hunterian Museum and back around Buckingham palace in the hotel. Everything on foot. I never used the public transport in the city :D PS: If you love greek food like me, visit The real greek!
London is the greatest ever city I have ever seen in my life. The city is quite active, international, and full of energy. People are so nice, and they turn any situation into a nice conversation. This city is full of stories, history and old places. Nice buildings, great museums to visit, and they are free. Public transportation is unique and amazing—lots of different Pubs and restaurants for different tastes.
The free museums. The reliable underground. The Eye. Train trip to Brighton---Pavilion and Pier, Sir John Soans museum. Tate Modern, British Museum, National Art museums .St. James Pub. Location by Victoria stations. Friendly people. Whenever asked for a direction, always helped and once a man drove us to our covid test since we couldn't walk that far.
Central London has a good uniformed police presence which makes it a very safe area. We found it easy to hail a passing Black Cab taxi, and we found moving around the city in that way to be very interesting in itself. One can see so much more than when using the Tube / Subway. If traveling by car you should be aware that it costs £15 per day to drive in the central London charging zone.
We didn't like the room and felt it was well short of 5 star, we appreciate the hotel is Royal themed however the room just looked cheap and tacky, it's hard to describe, you need to experience it (sorry). It looked onto a grim internal courtyard. The lights were weird too, how do you just turn the bathroom light on without every other light! I booked 2 nights for my partners 40th (as she loves the Royals) but we were disappointed with the room and we have stayed in much better 4 and 5 star hotels around London!
This a beautiful recent conversion of a grand court house with many lavish period features remaining and high quality modern additions that sit well with the old. It feels classy and smart. It is perfect for Bermondsey Market and the South Bank. Also between lock downs it was dirt cheap given the quality due to weak demand for London hotel rooms at the time. Reception staff and the bar manager clearly have been trained well in proper 5star establishments are were attentive and charming.
I chose this hotel because I had to take the Heathrow Express train at Paddington Station early the next day. The hotel is extremely convenient to Paddington Station --- just a few steps away. The staff people were very pleasant with helpful attitudes. My room was of a good size --- larger than in most London 3 and 4 star hotels. The room and bathroom were clean and modern and had a pleasant modern décor. My room was quiet, facing the side or back.
The location is great. It’s very close to West brompton station which is underground, overground and national rail train but this station has no lift. So if you have a huge luggage, I recommend to use Earl’s court station which is not too far from the hotel and you can use piccadilly line to/from Heathrow airport at this station. I stayed at standard twin room and it’s quite big when compare with other hotel in London. The staff was also good.
I stayed here for one night following a business trip and was pleasantly surprised. Considering the low price, I thought the value was excellent. The room was warm and comfortable, with a large bathroom plus tea and coffee making facilities. I would stay here again; having tried a few places (hotels, hostels, pods, rooms in apartments etc) this is the best balance of price, location and quality I've found in Central London.
This is a fantastic hotel right in the centre of Londons west end. The staff are very polite and helpful, drinks and food prices are the cheapest you will find anywhere locally and the rooms, although small are perfectly formed with everything you need and absolutely spotless. Would highly recommend this hotels.
Rooms clean and service was good. I'm staying there again tonight. This is my new favourite central London hotel. IV told my office to book me here when I'm in London which is several times a week. There is local shops and take away food within walking distance and a Sainsbury's close.
Southwark, London
Had no breakfast from the hotel though, made my breakfast myself & my family. The kitchen was very clean and had all i needed. The location perfect for all london attractions, exactly what i needed. Was easy and cheap to move round the central london either by bus or bolt ride.
Stayed in cheaper and better hotels but you are paying for location, literally a stones throw from London Eye and Embankment pier - lots of bars and restaurants. Staff lovely- Embankment tube just over the road
Tower Hamlets, London
Excellent hotel. Cool, relaxed and great service. The perfect base for a family to explore London. The apartments have great facilities and the rooms are very comfortable.
Been my home in London for 90% of my visits for the past 10 years. Keep checking other hotels but keep coming back to Bentley every single time! No one beats Bentley.
Dirty old carpets, tiny room even for London, cold and humid, thin walls, bad breakfast. There are much better hotels around for the same price if you research more.
The staff were amazing. From the check in to the bar staff. The device was first class on par with the best hotels in London.
Cheaper than other hotels in London. Near to a tube station. Grocery store in front of the hotel. Friendly staff.
super location - room and bathroom much bigger than all other 4 star hotels that I have stayed at in London
Good location, breakfast was included and the room was good for typical London cheap hotels
The room size is perfect compared with other hotels in London. The location is the best
The staff Anna, Ahmed and Annetta made sure that our stay was the best possible! They were professional, courteous, accommodating and made sure every detail was taken care of. Ahmed cooked us a delicious made-to-order English breakfast every morning and front desk staff Anna and Annetta were amazing.
The staff is extraordinary and so is the hotel. The Rivoli bar makes excellent martinis!
