Quiet location very close to the train station and within walking distance to The Corn Exchange. Basic, but felt clean and safe. Single room probably wouldn't suit someone 6ft+ with lots of luggage but perfect for me with my rucksack! Good vibes, and incredibly comfy and warm bed. Pin codes for all the doors worked perfectly, everything felt so nice and easy. I loved it.

I loved how clean and confy the rooms were. It is two minutes away from the railway station and you can request a locker to keep your bags during the day before you depart. I really liked how everything opens with codes which they send prior to your arrival (check the emails!), so there is no physical keys or any necesary contact with anyone to get in or out of the place. In addition, there are a few coffee pods, teas and milk in the room which is very nice to have first thing in the morning ;) If i ever go back to Cambridge, I'd probably stay here again :)

The Orlando is managed by Claire Bracher, whose first career was as a professional viola da gamba performer, and for ten years as a professor of the viola da gamba at the Royal College of Music in London. The 'Orlando' Hotel is named after the renaissance composer Orlando Gibbons (1583 to 1625) who studied at King's College Cambridge.

Property information

The Orlando is self-checkin. Guests will be sent a pincode up to 48 hours prior to arrival in the 'welcome email', along with my mobile number, should you need any help, or if you have any questions either before or during your stay. I live closeby, and so I am available if you need me during your stay. The Orlando is a newly renovated eight bedroom boutique hotel with 'room only' i.e we do not provide breakfast. Each room at the Orlando has a private ensuite glass walled bathroom, large flatscreen TV, room fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, complimentary wifi, and a keyless 24hour entry system. We can not accommodate hen-dos, stag-dos or any large groups coming to Cambridge to celebrate such or similar occasions. We can not take children below the age of 6. Rooms that have sofa beds: the sofa beds are intended for bookings over two people and not as a twin room. The sofab will automatically be set up if you have booked for 3 or 4 guests in one room. A request will need to be made if you wish to use the sofa bed for a two person booking.

Neighbourhood information

The Orlando is only 3 minutes walk from Cambridge central train station, and a 10 to 15 minute walk to Cambridge city centre and the iconic Cambridge University colleges.
