Centrally located in Ano Syros, just a 7-minute walk from the Kamara entrance, accessible via picturesque traditional steps (vehicles cannot enter). We recommend you to rent a vehicle (car, scooter, etc.) if you wish to explore the island easily. Access to the house is very easy. We will send you a video walkthrough to guide you home from the Kamara entrance of Ano Syros. Be aware that the settlement of Ano Syros consists of step alleys and vehicles are not allowed inside. Ano Syros is approximately 3.5 km from Hermoupolis port, 10 minutes using transport and 15 minutes on foot. It constitutes the continuity of the town of Syros towards the hill. The whole area is built on the slopes of the hill, on top of which lies the Catholics cathedral, Saint George or ‘Sa Tzortzis’, as it is often called on the island. The whole Ano Syros settlement maintains its medieval character and has remained unspoiled through the centuries. Among small houses with arches, cars are not allowed, something which is anywise not easy due to the countless stairs which cross the settlement. In the past, for fear of sea invasions, entrances to town were blocked with wooden gates, securing residents from a possible night raid. The settlement had fort features and these gates were the only way of entering. You can be transferred to Ano Syros by car, taxi or the free public transportation (mini bus). The main entrances of the settlement are Portara, Pano Terma, Kato Terma or Kamara, Skalakia and Sa Bastias. You can visit the Museum of Markos Vamvakaris, the Museum of Traditional Professions, the Church of Agios Georgios at the top of the settlement and the monastery of Kapoukinon. Ermoupoli is a ten-minute walk, there is also a free mini-bus with which you can move to and from Ermoupoli, the summer itineraries are usually 08:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:00, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30 and 22:30.
