I have been active in tourism for over 26 years, but Casa Calanthe is the first and only property for rent. My favorite part of hosting is being a part of someone's great holiday experience and letting the guests make the most of their desired holiday.

Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Casa Calanthe, with its impressive mountain and partial sea view, is at a 5-min. walk from the center and a 10-min drive to the lake, beach and many other activities. Combining the charms of a newly renovated 18th-century house with its impressive stone arches, with all modern comfort. Outside there are 3 lovely patios, so you can live like a real Cretan. Can you already feel yourself dipping in the beautifully lightened & heated swimming pool?

Neighborhood info

Located on the edge of the traditional Cretan village of Kournas and the foot of Mount Dafnomadara. Perfect for those looking for privacy because of its peaceful surroundings and impressive views. Yet also for those wishing to combine relaxation with action, as a 5-min walk will take you to the village center where you can discover the tasty Cretan cuisine and find many local products and souvenirs. Lots of hiking possibilities in this wooded area. Sportive people can go hiking, biking, horse back riding, diving, snorkeling, doing water sports or go paragliding in the near area. You should not miss out on a visit to Kournas Lake; Kavros and Georgioupolis, which have miles of sandy beaches. Kavros has the widest sandy beach. Georgioupolis is a cozy touristic fishing village. Both host several supermarkets, shops, restaurants and pubs. Situated between the authentic city of Chania and the modern city of Rethymnon, simply invites you to visit them both. Those who like beaches and don't mind a longer drive can also visit the pink beach of Elafonisi, the palm beach of Preveli or the Balos lagoon.  Kournas is a great hiking area, but since it is situated at a 200 meters altitude, it might be wise to include a rental car, bike, or even an electric bicycle during some days of your stay to discover the rest of Crete.
