Villa Taxiarchis is a superb newly restored luxury 1 00sqm two-storey house in the picturesque village of Anopolis Pediados. Just 20minutes from Heraklion City it is in the perfect position for a quiet secluded holiday yet within easy reach of the fine sandy beaches of Kokkini Hani and all local antiquities and tourist attractions. The village of Anopolis, its 300 friendly hospitable inhabitants provides visitors with a perfect opportunity to experience the real Crete. The property which was at one time an ex-world war first aid shelter, has been beautifully rebuilt and designed for guests comfort with the highest quality of materials and furnishings. It has double glazed windows and doors, marble/oak floorings/beautiful kitchen and an ample wooden staircase and a fireplace.The entire house has been professionally decorated throughout in contemporary style, with its stunning verandah boasting incredible views of the local mountains/olive groves
The owners of Villa Taxiarchis, Manthos and Julie Kapsetakis have been welcoming visitors to Crete for over 30 years. Manthos is from Anopolis village. He is the manager of an international car rental company and during the winter months spends his time producing olive oil at the family's olive oil factory in Anopolis. Julie is from England. Apart from working many years in the travel industry as an overseas product manager and tour guide, she is a qualified interior designer and the artistic director of Aegean Arts International music and arts festival Crete. They have two daughters, Marianna and Stephanie, who are classical pianists as well as doctors of Medicine and Zoology.
Life in the village of Anopolis is quiet and tranquil. We enjoy greeting each other as neighbours and there is always the opportunity to extend the conversation (and practice Greek!) particularly with the older folk, who gather at the superb little tavernas and kafeneions in the village square. Most evenings visitors from the tourist resorts come to the village to stroll around its cobbled street, buy traditional products from the local shop and watch the dancing displays that are held at the Anopolis Fiesta just at the edge of the village.
