Our camp ground is a family run business, situated on the top of a hill in the heart of Croatia. We love and respect Nature and we like to share our abundance with guests. This foresty, hilly area is one of the most beautiful parts of Croatia! Our permaculture farm is called Bogata Suma, which means "Rich Forest" in Croatian. And rich it is! Slowly we're turning our 12 hectares into an edible landscape. We are surrounded by forests and rolling hills, hooting owls and burling deer. Mushrooms pop up from spring - autumn. The shepherd's hut is situated in our edible landscape, close to the food forest. The mobile hut is made by Peter, who worked as an artistic blacksmith when we still lived in The Netherlands. You can find hammocks and a little fire pits for (small) campfires all over the terrain. When the night is clear, you can see up to 4000 stars! Our air is very pure and there is no light pollution.

Bogata Šuma, a permaculture family homestead, is established in 2005 to live a natural life in the countryside of Croatia. Originally we come from city life in The Netherlands (Amsterdam and Leiden) and in 2009 we moved to the countryside in Croatia. Peter because he always dreamed of living in nature, Barbara because she wanted to live a more self-sufficient life with permaculture. Good food is one of our passions. We grow our own food and our son Nol is learning to be a chef. If you like, you can join us at the lunch or dinner table to enjoy organic food from the terrain. Barbara makes hand creams, facial creams and she loves to make fermented brews like kombucha, kefir and wine from all kinds of fruits and flowers. Some products are for sale. You can ask us for the possibilities. Our reasons for living more self sufficient are born out of love for nature, self respect and an urge for living healthy. For us living (food) self sufficient fits into our values and vision. Sustainability, renewability, independency and love and good care for living beings. It also fits into our aim to incorporate permaculture in all aspects of our life. We enjoy our simple way of life. We eat what nature provides and we are thankful for her abundance. We like to share this joy and abundance so we're growing a village.

This area is great for hiking or cycling or swimming in the (very clean) river. In the nearby city Karlovac you can visit the Nikola Tesla experience centre, or a museum about the 4 rivers and its underwater life, there is the local farmers market (every morning except on Sundays) where old ladies sell their organic produce...
