Xaghra is a pretty village with a picturesque square lined with pavement cafes and good restaurants. Home to one of the oldest free standing and arguably best preserved religious structures in the world, found at the Temples of Ggantija. Upon exploring the village further you will discover intriguing grottos, a curious toy museum and a beautifully decorated church. Not to be missed is one of the very few remaining eighteenth century windmills, Ta Kola. On the outskirts of the village, is the mythological Calypso Cave home of the named in Homers Odyssey. The cave overlooks the islands largest beach, Ramla Bay, with its unique honey-red sand, and is only a short drive away.
