As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.
The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.
The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.
From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.
Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

We love Mexico City and have visited over the years when my husband guest lectured at UNAM. My husband is now in a wheelchair much of the time, and CDMX is not terribly accommodating to that. The gorgeous, gigantic trees everywhere in La Condesa wreak havoc on the sidewalks. But Ubers are very affordable. Everyone we met was so welcoming. We didn't get around very much this time except for the opening of our son's sculpture show at GAM during Art Week. The dinner afterwards, where we hosted ten of his friends and our friends and gallery people, was remarkably inexpensive and very delicious.

First time in this city.
First time in this city.
Huge city, with many places to visit. Museums are world-class and very interesting. Check Google for good restaurants. Rio Lerma Street, parallel to Paseo la Reforma, is filled with many restaurants, all with very good ratings.
We mainly walk (more than 10 k per day). If you want to ride we recommend Uber. We didn't use the Metro bus but it looked great.
Be alert. But we didn't have any bad experiences. Everybody was kind.
Traffic jams are frequent and heavy. Check google maps and take precautions if you plan to visit something far away or when going to the airport.

This a is a great city. Plenty to see and to enjoy.
This a is a great city. Plenty to see and to enjoy. There is food in every street and the locals are very friendly.
Plenty of museums, parks and places to visit.
There is the general prejudice that is not safe but I walked everywhere and never felt unsafe.
Also it is very green and full of trees everywhere.
However, traffic is a nightmare.

I've visited CDMX three or four times now.
I've visited CDMX three or four times now. I am a non-Hispanic white male from the US but I have spent many years learning Spanish. I speak enough to get by and have conversations with people in Mexico with no issues. If I didn't speak spanish my experience might be different, but either way you will have a blast! It's just a little easier to get around and not be taken advantage of when you speak at least some spanish.
Mexico City has SO so many parks, museums, historical sites, etc. You can spend weeks here and still have more stuff to see (hence why I keep going back lol). Bellas Artes was overrated though. Unless you get to see a good show there. But the art is just a few small rooms about Diego Rivera, and not much more. Chapultapec Park is HUGE huge huge. Just go explore! Oh, and if you are a runner/biker/walker, bring your shoes and on Sunday they close down a HUGE route of La Avenida Reforma by El Angel de la Indipendencia for the entire city to run on the road for free! It is so beautiful. I ran my longest run ever there last month! 11+ miles (long for me). It was an amazing experience. THOUSANDS of local CMDX peeps running and biking together. Highly recommend.

Beautiful city, lots of things to do and see; lots of great food all around, but the traffic is horrendous. For every attraction that you'll attend, plan to spend at least 1 hour in the car depending on how far you're going. We went to Chalma and took 4 hours to come back to our hotel in Reforma. We went to Teotihuacan and took 3 hours to come back home. You end up wasting so much time on the road; it's awful (and this was low season in September).

It's a huge city with many faces, you can find almost everything, nice places, ugly places, etc.. Better to visit with a local or with local advise. Be prepared for long distances trips and a lot of traffic jams.
We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Boutique Villa Condesa. There is nothing we can really fault. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location suited us perfectly and we were able to walk to most of our destinations, not one moment did we feel unsafe, day or night. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and options to choose from. Our room had all the facilities we've needed, comfortable bed, AC, lovely spacious bathroom with shower. If we stay in Mexico City again, we will definitely stay here again.
The location, attached to the International Terminal at the Mexico City Airport, and near the buses, is perfect. It's easy to walk across the bridge to get food. There are restaurants in the hotel and nearby. The staff are friendly and helpful. The entry area is modern and attractive. Many conveniences are offered. Overall, it was fairly quiet, given the hotel is so near the airport.
My stay was very short, all services worked fine and I had a confortable night. The host is very kind, and trustworthy. Quick and clear responses in the app. There was a bit of noise from the street, but that's the way it is in Mexico City, except for those big hotel with sound-proof premises. It was totally worth it for the price. It's very close to the airport by taxi.
I stayed at modern room at 47 floor. it has fantastic and dramatic view to the city. I really like it! The facilities like swimming pool and sauna you should book. that’s not comfortable. The restaurant at the 38 floor is really nice and delicious and the staff are really attentive.
as for me this is the best hotel in Mexico city.
The owners where very kind, the hotel is next to the airport so it's great if you have a long layover and you want to have a good, cheap, and safe stay in Mexico City
