If you love outdoor flea markets, then Canton, Texas is definitely a place you have to explore. This city is popular for First Monday Trade Days, the largest and longest-running outdoor flea market in the U.S. Situated in Van Zandt County, Trade Days has been in operation for over 170 years! During Trade Days, the Old Mill Marketplace property, where our suites are located, has shopping, entertainment, and light dining until 10 pm. There's even a winery on site. However, if you want to come to stay with us on non-Trade Days throughout the month, you will find a peaceful getaway that will truly be a relaxing escape from the busy life of the city. Hiking paths are found around the property. There are over 24 birds that you can identify just from sitting on the porch of your suite. (We even have a list of them for you to check off.) Each of our bed and bath suites is uniquely decorated in an Old Western or literary theme. You'll find such amenities as WiFi, TVs with DVD players, coffee makers, and air conditioning. Several suites include electric fireplaces, as well.
We are Timothy and Beverly Miller, newly retired and on a new adventure in our over 48 years of marriage. At the beginning of 2021, we purchased a few BnBs that needed some repairs and now have 19 suites ready to rent out. Timothy was a career Traffic Engineer serving in Alaska and Washington states - and abroad in the UAE and Qatar. Beverly was an owner and manager of Christian bookstores, along with many other roles.
In addition to the monthly First Monday Trade Days attraction, Canton is also home to Splash Kingdom waterpark (www.splashkingdomwaterpark.com) and Yesterland Farm (www.yesterlandfarm.com), two fantastic attractions located just minutes from our property. You'll find unique shopping nearby, as well as grocery stores for those forgotten items.
