Bek, the administrator, speaks English and is very helpful. We extended an extra day because it’s worth resting in a place where you know someone can actually help. A tourist will appreciate Bek’s western standard. He also made the effort to be approachable in case something is wrong. Nothing went wrong. This place has everything a western traveller needs. Lots of space for the bicycles/overlanding vehicle inside the compound, spacious and undoubtedly clean and room and bed(looks and smells clean). This feels like a place where a lot of pride and love is put to make it a comfortable place for guests. No feel of cutting corners like other places. Photos are exactly what it look like. This place is worth every penny. It stands out amongst the budget-friendly accommodations in Uzbekistan. Great stay for sure.

Indeed, this city overall may have much more to offer to the seasoned traveler than mainstream Samarkand, without all the frazzle and hype. I would definitely recommend this place.

Mr. Bek is the kindest, most friendly host I have ever met. He helped me return another hotel’s card key for Uzbekistani (not tourist) prices. He called my next hostel when my driver didn’t arrive as scheduled, and arranged a new taxi for me. He showed me how to get into town, where to find the bank.. and the breakfast!! I don’t know what I would’ve done without him. And he is one of the few people in Uzbekistan that didn’t make me feel like I needed to be on guard and bargain. He is super trustworthy, and I cannot recommend his hotel more!! In addition, if you’re wondering whether or not to visit Shahrisabz, please note that this city had some of the cheapest souvenirs I’ve seen so far in Uzbekistan (much cheaper than Bukhara and Samarkand.) I thoroughly enjoyed my visit—I wish I could’ve explored a bit more (Langar Otta, Kadvan Valley Ruins, Meros Paper Mill!). Much love to Bek Hotel and the lovely family running it!
