The location is so convenient to all that the Peneda-Geres National park has to offer….excellent hiking and panoramas, and beautiful scenic drives. The view from the hotel is gorgeous as it looks into the Cavado River. The staff was professional, efficient, super kind and helpful from the moment we checked in. Joao, the desk, provide so much helpful information about the park upon check-in. Diana in the dining room was a delight! Even with a packed house for dinner she kept her happy attitude and performed her job well. The spa facility at the hotel offered Turkish bath, sauna, cold shower, and jacuzzi, we enjoyed all and found them them to be clean and functioning properly. Delightful! My wife and I also took advantage of the massage services and were pleased with the massages we received from Mariana. We could not have been more pleased and satisfied with the property, the staff, the room, and the spa. Will DEFINITELY return to Hotel Sao Bento..Thank you to the staff for a job well done!

The villa is incredible and the views are breathtaking. The house is neatly decorated and has everything necessary to enjoy a few days in nature. The jacuzzi and pool are great (we didn't use the later as it was really cold in January, but the jacuzzi sure made up for it). The location is close to all sorts of activities in Gerês and Vieira do Minho. Highly recommend and we'll surely try to comeback. Despiste some reviews suggesting it, our ACs worked flawlessly and wi-fi worked great (had a zoom meeting for 4 hours without any problems at all - consistent >100mbp/s speed). Also want to add that we had a (very) small issue with the kitchen that was promptly checked and solved by the host and keeper!

We stayed as a family of 4 during our winter vacation. If I had to name everything we loved I would never finish my review. Everything was excepcional, from the setting, the views, the grounds, the faciliities, the staff, the food,the beds. Absolutely stunning place!! We will try to come back again at least once a year.

We loved staying in this village. The accommodations were clean, uncluttered, comfortable, and historic yet modern. The owner was very responsive and helped us get reservations at the local-fare restaurant a short walk from the house, navigate the area, understand the history and culture of the area, and find great places to walk and explore. There is so much history and natural beauty in the area, and this house is a fabulous home base. One of the best parts of the location was having the local cows arriving in the evening to drink at the spring just outside our door.

We LOVED this place. If ever we get the opportunity to visit this area again, we will definitely stay here. The hosts paid attention to every possible detail. The place looked like it had been decorated by a professional interior decorator. It was beautiful and spotlessly clean. It appeared to be newly built. We thought we were the first to be there. It was comfortable, the internet was great, the heater worked, the high-tech shower was a fun dream come true. In our bedroom we had a large closet (with hangers!) and extra large mini-fridge, a machine for hot water to make tea or coffee. In the bathroom I even had a hair dryer! Wish the weather would have been warmer and not pouring rain as it would have been nice to try out their swimming pool with the infinity edge that provided a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valley. One of the two massive jacuzzi tubs beside the pool would have been fun to try out too! Although we were the only ones onsite, it appeared to us there were perhaps 4 or 5 other apartments onsite, each (we're presuming) like ours with everyone sharing the common areas like the well-stocked kitchen and bar-b-que, the swimming pool and jacuzzis. This would be the perfect place for a group of friends or family to spend time enjoying the area. There's hiking in the mountains and other day trips to do from here. With the steel security gate that closes behind the onsite parking area, it's like you and your family members and/or friends would be in your own vacation compound. The added plus is that the hosts (father and son) were SO nice and very helpful. We truly encourage anyone considering this location, to reserve it now, if you can get it, as it's so beautiful it will be difficult to get.
