During our visit, there was an event happening close to the castle. The infrastructure took them more that two weeks to disassemble so the main route to the castle was blocked during our entire visit and it wasn't possible to see the main entrance. Moreover, many locals told us the trip inside they castle is a bit overhyped.
Fabulous history and views. make a reservation and go early. the Hop on Hop off bus is perfect for getting around Edinburgh easily. Make reservations for dinner as all pubs and restaurants are booked up early.
The castle is amazing however the walk up to it is very steep and even when you are in the castle there are lots of steps so it is not really a good place to visit for those who are not fit or are disabled. As it is so high up it can be very windy and getting around it in the rain is no fun. We did enjoy our visit even though we were limited as to which parts of the castle had esay access. The views are amazing from the castle.
Health not great so got a taxi which was as cheap as chips, to drive to the Castle. Fabulous Castle & Fantastic museum within Castle and staff so enthusiastic to give us more detail on exhibits. The Bagpiper outside was brilliant and although looked down to try to see what I was doing, didn't relise I'd placed a tiny travelling gnome by his shoe - husband not impressed! I got the photo though!
An absolute must see! One of the most spectacular castles, but go early to avoid huge crowds. When you walk in go straight to the furthest point and make your way back to get better less crowded pictures.
I was surprised to see how wheelchair accessible it was and the staff was so helpful. So if you have a some kind of difficulties with moving around, dont miss out on Edinburgh castle. If you dont have a whhelchair, they lend one to you. Edinburgh castle is an absolut must see of you wisit Edinburgh.
Old Town, Edinburgh
The apartment was situated literally, on The Royal Mile. We were pleasantly awakened to a regiment of bagpipers our first morning (we slept in --so it wasn't too early). We had a 5 min walk to St. Giles and maybe a 10-15 min walk to Edinburgh Castle. The apartment was in perfect shape and very recently updated because everything seemed brand new. Everything was wonderful, very clean and very comfortable. Also, very spacious. We loved staying there and just wish could have stayed a little longer.
Old Town, Edinburgh
The Brewers Rooms Contemporary Aparthotel was in an excellent location and just a short walk to the Royal Mile, Victoria Street, and Edinburgh Castle. The apartment was a good size with two bedrooms, commons space, and bathroom; it was clean and had a cute little kitchenette. The Altido management group was always available and responded quickly if we needed anything. Of note-They do use a keyless entry with your phone, so having a phone with data is helpful.
Location was absolutely the best. Right next to Edinburgh castle, the royal mile and the national library. As far as staff goes, they were all amazing. Shout out to Jamie who gave us recommendations to places, helped us find a grocery store and made us feel special. Morover, the room was excellent. Beds were really nice, the shower was amazing. We also had a mini fridge which helped us. I will absolutely come back to that hotel.
Location of the hotel is good, and there is no shortage of shops and restaurants within walking distance. They partner with a car park close to Edinburgh Castle that is a little ways to walk. Check-in was easy and the staff is lovely. There is an entrance to the hotel that faces the street but you have to be buzzed in. Another entrance is around the corner and much easier to access. Our rooms fit the needs of our family.
Old Town, Edinburgh
Location for this hotel is wonderful, right on the Royal Mile, just a short walk to Edinburgh Castle and other cool sites. Plenty of restaurants and things to do near by. The room itself had basic cooking equipment (pots, pans, utensils), a mini fridge, microwave oven, and stove. Absolutely loved the shower in our room, and the beds were nice and stiff, not too soft.
Edinburgh
We loved the apartments! They were very spacious and clean. We had everything we needed and it was walking distance to most places we wanted to visit, including the Edinburgh Castle. We arrived after hours so they accommodated us by leaving a key in their office lock box across the street. There’s also parking available in their parking lot in front of apartments.
Old Town, Edinburgh
Location was fantastic for exploring all the Edinburgh sites. No car needed, just steps from the Edinburgh Castle on the Royal Mile. Lovely modern apartment in a very historic building. Entry was easy, set back from the street. Fun to read the history of the site posted along the close. There are steps to manage, but that is not unusual in Edinburgh.
Edinburgh
The location was perfect. Walkable to restaurants, stores, parks, and even Edinburgh Castle. Buses and taxis were plentiful. The apartment itself is very spacious with 2 br/2 baths, perfect for 4 or even 5 people. Love the spacious kitchen with all modern appliances.
Rooms are a bit dated, ours was recently renovated. The view of the Scott monument. Princess Street gardens and Edinburgh Castle was beautiful, which is why we chose this hotel.
The hotel was better than I thought it would be! We needed a quick hotel near Edinburgh Castle and parking for our car as we were going to the airport the next day.
Edinburgh Castle is the main attraction, along with various tours during the day and night.
We enjoyed Edinburgh castle very much and it was my second time . We were very lucky to have a lovely sunny spring day .
Edinburgh castle was a fantastic, day out for the whole family, grandparents, parents and children. Loads to see, very informative staff and lots to see and discuss. View fantastic. Tip, book ahead on line to save long queue (we actually did it while stood in queue)
Mercat Vault Tour, Edinburgh Castle but not the Royal Mile (very touristy!)
Edinburgh Castle is restored almost completely, only St Margaret's chapel conserves some of the original construction.
