Overlooking Edinburgh Castle, the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is located in the financial district, next to the West End business and entertainment area and a five-minute walk from Princes Street, 1640... From booking into checking out I can't fault the facilities or staff.
Really nice if you are a history person. The views are amazing, the castle is beautiful. Some of the hallways are tight, so take a small bag if taking one. There are some rooms where you CANNOT take pictures or films like the Honours - Scottish Crown Jewels - but it is worth it as they are exquisite. The cafe/bistro next to the war memorial is lovely and the food is fantastic. They do afternoon tea.
Edinburgh Castle was absolutely awesome. The cannons and cannon balls were a sight to see. There were different levels where you could take photos way across the land. We also visited the war memorial.
I thing it's better to visit some other castles on a country side. Edinburgh Castle is beautiful from the outside but too cloudy inside. You can't feel the history of this place after another hour in a queue to the entrance and being stuck in the crowd inside
Scaffolding was coming down when we visited so it was very noisey and distracted from the whole experience. Cost of entering the castle was extortionate and would recommend a visit to Stirling Castle over this.
We thought it was fabulous . We had pre arranged disabled parking ,and collected our tickets .The staff were extremely helpful ,and accommodating. The staff went above and beyond their role to facilitate us . Edinburgh castle has something for everyone ,it’s a truly amazing place . Places to eat , drink , shop , relax, and so much to explore . Again the staff are helpful , and engaging re the history ,and very eager to please . I would definitely recommend Edinburgh Castle .
Lots of history and things to see. Spectacular view of Edinburgh from the Castle. We stayed over 3 hours but next time I'd like a local tour guide to tell me more about all the fantastic history about this place.
Aparthotel, as namesake, is an apartment hotel. We had a studio room which was spacious - enough for 2 with a nice & clean ensuite bathroom, high table for tea/coffee and a small functional kitchenette. I love the decor as it is modern and sleek, especially thought given to where sockets are, for functional reasons. Though it is a fuss free apartment hotel, cafes and eateries are easily available once you step out as its right on the Royal Mile Road which takes you to the Edinburgh Castle if you walk straight towards that direction!
The hostel provided food options (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for a reasonable price. Besides that, there’s a bar inside the hostel where you can start your night. It’s right in the heart of Edinburgh, so we could just walk from there to every tourist spot. The hostel offers a really nice free walking tour everyday, except on Sunday. The staff was great, everything was clean and it was amazing to spot the Edinburgh Castle as soon as you go out the door.
The hotel is situated right in the heart of the Old Town, overlooking the Grassmarket Square with many cafés and restaurants. The Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, the University Campus, and the Holyrood Park are all only a short walk away. The hotel offers parking in the back yard which is very convenient when travelling by car. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
We were visiting just as GB was shutting everything down due to the C-Virus. The hotel restaurant served a very good dinner and breakfast (even though that was the last days they could be open. The location is outstanding just across from the famous Grass Market Square and within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle.
Beautiful clean apartment on the doorstep of Edinburgh Castle, with large kitchen, modern clean bathroom, comfortable bedroom & living area, & a large sofa bed. Host provided milk, body wash, shampoo, & a snack. 2 minutes to Grassmarket & Mary’s milk bar which the host said was the best ice-cream in Edinburgh. He wasn’t wrong!
The location of the hotel is great. There are a lot of things you can reach by just walking from the hotel. Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, Canon Gate, Victoria Street to name a few. The staff was also helpful, they helped us find out the local attractions very easily.
The place is HUGE and the staff are amazing! There was a SPECTACULAR view of Edinburgh Castle as the hostel is, quite literally, at the base of Edinburgh Castle Rock!
it only took me less than 5 min to find this hotel when a got out of Waverly station. and this place is in old town, close to the royal mile and Edinburgh castle.
The apartment is nice, Near to the Edinburgh Castle so you have a beautiful view
Edinburgh Castle is the main attraction, along with various tours during the day and night.
We enjoyed Edinburgh castle very much and it was my second time . We were very lucky to have a lovely sunny spring day .
Edinburgh castle was a fantastic, day out for the whole family, grandparents, parents and children. Loads to see, very informative staff and lots to see and discuss. View fantastic. Tip, book ahead on line to save long queue (we actually did it while stood in queue)
Mercat Vault Tour, Edinburgh Castle but not the Royal Mile (very touristy!)
Edinburgh Castle is restored almost completely, only St Margaret's chapel conserves some of the original construction.
