Excellent monument to go and see ,we only stopped to take photographs as passing ,then found that a FREE minibus is offered to take visitors up the hill to the monument its self, very useful for those if us who couldn't make the walk .10/10
We arrived late in the day so didn’t get to visit inside the monument. However we did walk up from the car park to the monument, along the beautiful woodland walk. The walk is fairly steep and if you have any difficulties use the minibus.
Very informative. Essentially just a tower but plenty of info about Wallace. Steep and narrow staircase might be a problem with unfit visitors. The view from the top is worth the effort. Recommend getting the frequent free shuttle bus to the tower from the car park below
I have often driven near the monument on the A9 but never actually visited before. It was just closing when we visited so we couldn't go inside (£10 admission). But you can walk up through the woods to the exterior for free.
Go early, this is a very popular place to visit and the carpark can fill up very fast. If your legs aren't as good as they used to be, take the shuttle bus up the hill, you'll not regret it. I walked the hill in my twenties and thirties etc, now in my fifties I took the bus!
This is a stunning monument we visit Stirling regularly but this is the first time we have visited the monument. It is very impressive but if you have any problems walking I would not recommend that you pay the fee to go into the monument as the spiral staircase is very small and difficult to navigate if there are persons going in the opposite direction. There is also a complementary bus to take you up to the monument from the carpark at the bottom of the hill. Well worth a visit.
This was a nice hotel inside the university area. The location was near the Wallace monument, but a little far from Stirling. Actually Bridge of Allan was nearer for walking, and that provided some nice choice of restaurants. We had dinner at the hotel one night, which was of good quality Scottish-style breakfast on the the first day was excellent. The rooms were very clean, and the staff very helpful.
The hotel location in central Stirling was very nice, with many shops, pubs and restaurants in the neighborhood. It was a great base for us to explore the Castle, the Wallace Monument and more. The hotel restaurant was excellent and we had a very good dinner our first night and enjoyed the selection offered with the breakfast buffet. The lobby was nice and the room was very comfortable.
Stirling
The room was clean with modern decor and was very well appointed. The breakfast was cooked to order and abundant. The owners were friendly and informative. The B&B was close to Stirling activities and when we looked out our room window we could see the William Wallace Monument. This property was my favorite lodging in Scotland.
Stirling
Richard was wonderful! So accommodating, was there early to check me in. I had the top floor room2 best view in the city! I could see the Wallace monument (and more). Stirling is not big so everything is within walking distance. Delicious filling breakfast!
The location is great! it’s really close to Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument and restaurants and grocery stores. There is great parking available at the property. the bed was more comfortable than most we’ve slept on and the sheets were soft.
Stirling
It was a home from home, with sufficient space for a family of 4 with 2 teenagers and a dog. 3 double bedrooms - nicely decorated. Good location - driving distance to stirling and Wallace monument.
The Wallace Monument is a must visit, and only 30 minutes away is Castle Doune, where all of the castle scenes in Monty Python and the Holy Grail were filmed. Stirling Castle is also an excellent visit.
Walk down to the Wallace monument lovely wooded Mountain to walk with lovely views
