The property went through a major revamp and it looks unrecognizable to its older self. It’s absolutely gorgeous by all accounts, ticking the boxes on location, entrance grandeur, fantastic pool area, wonderful gym, lobby cafe restaurant with great views to Bundara Hi / lights show, fair breakfast choices, comfortable and well equipped room, and the usual high standards Indonesian hospitality. We loved it and we will go back for leisure and business alike.

Almost everything. I was told that this is the first five-star hotel in Jakarta, commissioned at the time by the president himself as a place for official VIP guests to stay. And indeed, on almost every measure it lives up and surpasses this lofty standard. The first thing that strikes you is the gorgeous and huge lobby and check-in area. It is surrounded by incredible Indonesian artifacts and overall exquisitely designed. The room I received was no different and everything about it was luxurious, spacious, beautifully designed and comfortable. I stayed at an Executive Room so I was eligible to use the lounge which was wonderful. They serve a fantastic and secluded breakfast so there's no need to go downstairs to the main dining area. They also offer afternoon tea and evening finger food which was absolutely delicious and plentiful. The pool is beautiful, large and was almost empty at all times during my stay and the gym is one of the best and largest I've seen at any hotel.

Jonathan, Ika, David and the rest of the staff at the Mandarin Oriental were extremely friendly and so helpful and kind. I would not hesitate to stay there again when I'm in Jakarta. Bonus is it's walkable to Grand Indonesia.
