I do believe the hike from the waterfall is my most favorite...
I do believe the hike from the waterfall is my most favorite "green" hike of all time. (versus Sedona's red rock trails!!) If you can stand going up all of those stairs, try and plan at least a few hours to walk as much of the trail as you can. It is worth every moment!

The best waterfall in whole of iceland.
The best waterfall in whole of iceland. We could go so close to the waterfall and get totally drenched. That was an amazing and memorable experience. Very next to the falls are the steps to go to the top and view the falls from there. Loved it.

We stayed one night in this guesthouse. The location is amazing,literally few steps away from the Skogafoss waterfall. Easy to get to.
The guesthouse was equipped in all the necceseities. There is a kitchen with dining area, fridge, microwave and stove.The bathroom is shared but kept very clean. They have comfortable parking by the property and
the self check in and check out are super easy.
We really liked our stay there. Fully recommend it if looking for a stay near Skogafoss waterfall.

The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was an OK spread. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. The best part of this hotel is of course the gorgeous Skógafoss waterfall behind the accommodation. You can't beat the location, and the overall the hotel is super lovely. Highly recommend!

This charming hotel, set in a building that was once a school, really impressed us with its history and character. The furniture is simple and a bit old, but everything is impeccably clean and very well maintained. Despite its age, the place feels welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with a wide variety of options. Its location is also excellent, just a short distance from the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall. Overall, a memorable and pleasant stay.

We visited several sites that day (Vik, Seljalofoss waterfall, finishing with Skógafoss waterfall). We decided to have a chilled evening visiting the waterfall, doing a bit more of a hike around there (as there are multiple waterfalls to see if you keep walking). Then we had food at the hotel’s restaurant and stayed over. It was a welcome stop to break up the journey back to Reykjavik.

I had a fantastic stay at Skogar Hostel! The location is perfect—just a short walk from the stunning Skógafoss waterfall. The hostel is cozy, clean, and well-maintained, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Communication was okay, and everything was well-organised. The kitchen was well-equipped, which made it easy to prepare meals after a day of exploring. I’d highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in South Iceland.

Our room was not so big but clean. Also, at that moment we seems to be the only guests and the staff proposed to bring special breakfast for us or have it in their other hotel even closer to Skogafoss, that was super nice:) and breakfast was delicious!
The most satisfying I assume is location, almost at Skogafoss waterfall!

Hotels in Iceland are limited but we are glad we decided to stay in this tiny town. The true drawcard here is the location literally right next door to the Skogafoss waterfall, you can just wander over and be at the waterfall in two minutes after breakfast. We visited it twice in the one day we were here, because we could. Also highly recommend the Kvernufoss walk and waterfall in the same time!
