NetherlandsIt's at a super convenient location within the Golden Circle. It's a easy 1h drive from the KEF airport. Driving to any scenic spots are verg easy and quick. The scenery is also amazing. There were a group of horses that often roam around the grass afar, we can see them from our window.

South AfricaA hot tub, an outdoor BBQ and a fantastic view situated out in the countryside (Perfect spot to see the Northern Lights- if you are lucky enough). Cottage was fully equipped with everything you need for a getaway stay. Hosts were amazing and communication was great. Would highly recommend the cottages to anyone.

Good crossroads for seeing lots of sites --- e.g the K Crater, National Park, etc. Oh, we stayed nearby in Eyvik Cottages (about 10-15 miles oustide of city) . Of note was that the Subway at the roundabout near the bridge came in handy. We had great foot long sandwiches on Multi Grain bread which lasted us for two meals. A bit pricey at near $20 each but well worth the value.

Selfoss has all the facilities for a stay in Iceland, 2 Supervisors and many petrol stations, it also has a small but pretty old town with bars and restaurants.
Selfoss is a good location for the Golden Circle and all the South Coast,

DO NOT STAY HERE! Avoid it! Go elsewhere! WORST PLACE WE STAYED IN ICELAND!!!!!!!
Our room was not cleaned. Dirty towels all over the room, soiled linens, pillows on the floor, the room smelled musky...and no one even answered the after hours number to help us out. We called them 5 times, we messaged them on WhatsApp 4 times, we texted them 5 times, and we emailed them 6 times in the span of an hour with absolutely NO RESPONSE!
Totally ghosted. So after 90 minutes, we had to figure out alternate arrangements all on our own.
We finally got an email from Vladimir the next day, saying they will do an investigation to see what happened. Geez, really? Wow, thanks...how the hell does that help us?!? They later said "Sorry, it was totally their fault"?!?! Like it was MY fault? Thanks Captain Obvious! WTF!!
When I asked for a refund, they refused to refund ANY portion of our stay, until I insisted, and then it was only a 20% offer. (Seriously?!?) So, I reached out to Booking.com and they were even less helpful. And the biggest kick in the head? Selfoss Hostel said, "nah we're not going to refund anything because you reached out to Booking.com"
This place is brutal. Why have an afterhours number to help people and not answer it. Why promise a refund and then renege? And for crying out loud...why not have a room cleaned with fresh linens when you already left a key for that room?!?!
And if they decide to reply to this complaint, don't believe what they write. I have email and message receipts to back up everything I wrote above!

Nearby sights we lived: Pingveller National Park, Gullfoss, Kerið Crater, Lágauras Lagoon, Farmer’s Bistro (if you love mushrooms, you’ll love their mushroom soup buffet,) Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and the drives to each of these are stunning.

town was a quaint seaside escape, good pizza place in town, watch out for the seafood restaurant serving horse meat on menu 🥩 😢so disturbing (its next to pizza place, so we were happy w/ pizza instead)!!

We did two day-trips in the full days we had staying here, one to the North and northwest, the other to the northeast. We also saw things on the way from the KEF Airport, and on our way to the next destination on the Ring Road.

Nice place with comfortable conditions, attentive a kind staff, well located just 2 minutes away from multiple restaurants with lot of different dinner/lunch options.
The breakfast was not the best breakfast on our trip, but to be honest, it had all the essenciais with multiple options and well presented.
For an high season crowded hotel, must say that was surprisingly clean and quiet, afterall that’s what matters.

We had a wonderful holiday. The accommodation is very centrally located on the edge of the "Golden Circle" and is about 5 kilometers from Selfoss (shops, restaurants, etc.). The house is very nicely and comfortably furnished. The wardrobes are very spacious. Everything you could need is provided. The highlight is the hot tub and the peace and quiet around the house.

Location this hotel is really great. We felt in this village like in some christmas movie. Everything you need is really close - a great food hall and supermarket. Best attractions were around 1 hour ago - Geysir, Reykjavik and waterfalls. Good choice when you want to visit more places and stay at one place.

This hotel is charming. When you are in the restaurant having dinner or breakfast (all homemade and extremely good), it is as if you were in 1890. Because of the decoration, of course. The staff is very friendly, the beds are very comfortable and the outdoor hot pot is wonderful.
