We had an amazing time! The tiny house is very modern and beautifully decorated! Super comfortable with an amazing view! The private hot tub and the sauna make for an even better experience. Stefan was very kind and helpful for any questions we had. He even went as far as to send us some information about the northern lights activity that night. Overall we definetly recommend and would go back anytime! Thanks again :)

Place was really clean and nicely set up. When we arrived staff upgraded our room free of charge. Even let us park the car right next to the enterance since we had to set it up for longer trip. DO NOT STAY HERE! Avoid it! Go elsewhere! WORST PLACE WE STAYED IN ICELAND!!!!!!! Our room was not cleaned. Dirty towels all over the room, soiled linens, pillows on the floor, the room smelled musky...and no one even answered the after hours number to help us out. We called them 5 times, we messaged them on WhatsApp 4 times, we texted them 5 times, and we emailed them 6 times in the span of an hour with absolutely NO RESPONSE! Totally ghosted. So after 90 minutes, we had to figure out alternate arrangements all on our own. We finally got an email from Vladimir the next day, saying they will do an investigation to see what happened. Geez, really? Wow, thanks...how the hell does that help us?!? They later said "Sorry, it was totally their fault"?!?! Like it was MY fault? Thanks Captain Obvious! WTF!! When I asked for a refund, they refused to refund ANY portion of our stay, until I insisted, and then it was only a 20% offer. (Seriously?!?) So, I reached out to Booking.com and they were even less helpful. And the biggest kick in the head? Selfoss Hostel said, "nah we're not going to refund anything because you reached out to Booking.com" This place is brutal. Why have an afterhours number to help people and not answer it. Why promise a refund and then renege? And for crying out loud...why not have a room cleaned with fresh linens when you already left a key for that room?!?! And if they decide to reply to this complaint, don't believe what they write. I have email and message receipts to back up everything I wrote above! Avoid Selfoss Hostel!

Nearby sights we lived: Pingveller National Park, Gullfoss, Kerið Crater, Lágauras Lagoon, Farmer’s Bistro (if you love mushrooms, you’ll love their mushroom soup buffet,) Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls, and the drives to each of these are stunning.

We did two day-trips in the full days we had staying here, one to the North and northwest, the other to the northeast. We also saw things on the way from the KEF Airport, and on our way to the next destination on the Ring Road.

We stayed in a cottage several km from Selfoss, but went into Selfoss to eat and do grocery shopping etc. The town was fine, but it's not a tourist attraction. The country itself is the attraction, and it is amazing. Selfoss is perfectly located to explore it all.

We loved everything in Selfoss.

We loved everything in Selfoss. It was a great decision pin this city for our accommodation. Not too far from either ways to reach the airport/Reykjavik or the most famous sightseeings. It was actually a better experience in comparison to Reykjavik. Somehow the main city felt to us so ordinary but Selfoss is a calmful and beautiful little city with full of helpful and smiley local people and amazing food and crafted beers. Special highlight for the Rösti Burgers, Fish of the days/Fish n chips and the Viking Beers. The crafted beers were sooo tasty and fresh which I just experienced in beer museums before. Bonus that the beach is just 10 min away by drive which was a great spot to chase the Northern Light.

Modern, spacious hotel close to the centre of town. Just a few yards to restaurants and shops, but quiet despite being by a main road. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, with good facilities. Free parking was a bonus for me, but did not need to use car to get around town. Breakfast was a good spread.
