Set in Siem Reap, 1.8 km from King's Road Angkor, The Bygone offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. We thoroughly recommend The Bygone - all the staff are really friendly and so helpful.
Wonderful site. The biggest and best preserved relic of that era hundreds of years ago. Most of the time one can escape the crowds and have some moments of peace, especially away from the center of the site.
This is an amazing place that should be visited several times. The government managed tourist pass can cover three days which provides access to the temple area of Seim Reap. I recommend a first visit with a government registered guide. Then return on later days to wander and really immerse yourself in the history. Make sure your camera is ready to take a lot of photos because you will find yourself snapping shots very quickly and often.
Choose a sun rise tour. I would recommend to get a 3 day pass. Day one go for a short circuit sun rise tour. Day 2 go for a long circuit guided tour. On the day 3, rent a bike and explore the place yourselves.
If you plan to visit during sunrise, make sure to bring a flashlight. to help you walk down the dark road from the parking area. Read the signage or follow the crowds to find out where you should be for the sunrise.
I hired a tuktuk to get to the temple at dawn to watch the sun rises behind the temple. I love that experience of capturing the sun rising along with hundreds of other tourists. Later I strolled inside the temple complex listening to live traditional music performed by local groups. Mesmerising experience!
Go Early! The heat, humidity, and crowds can get you if your not careful, take plenty of water. Buy your tickets the day before and carry your passport with you as regular checks are made against the ticket names. Hire a Tuk-tuk and a three-day ticket to see many more temples (some are just as amazing as Ankor Wat!
Fantastic hotel with a lovely pool in a great location. The reception staff were lovely and our tuk tuk driver that picked us up from the airport, Chard was wonderful. We ended up booking a tour with him to the floating village and he personally gave us a tour here. Plus we booked a tour of the Angkor Wat temples on the next day. Chard is a wonderful person- warm, full of insight into Cambodian life and a pleasure to be around. Thoroughly recommend. This really elevated our visit to Siem Reap and made it such a memorable experience.
This is a nice boutique hotel located about 2km away from central town. Location is moderately far for walking to town for dinner and back, hence we took tuktuk about 2 dollars each way. The hotel is modern with multi-stories and a lift, clean, very spacious room, comfy beds with ample hot water. Breakfast is very good with Western and Cambodian options. They have a flotilla of tukt tuk drivers out front who can arrange day hire to Angkor Wat and beyond. Their prices are pretty competitive.
Siem Reap
Dee and her husband run this wonderful accommodation. She could not do enough for us and gave us loads of information for the rest of our Cambodia trip. They also run tours to Angkor Wat and the floating markets from here. All staff are extremely friendly and Chanthou always greeted us with a smile. We had a nice spacious room. The hostel is a 3 minute walk from the busy Pub Street and Night Markets. I would highly recommend this hostel for its location and staff.
Siem Reap
A beautiful little hotel with a colourful, joyful southern vibe, a great pool, great shower (which is not always a given in Cambodia), very friendly and helpful staff, and excellent location just off the loud Pub street for a quiet stay, but near enough so that you can easily walk everywhere (except Angkor Wat of course which is outside the city centre).
This hotel was superb being fairly new and our room was really big. The best on our trip to Cambodia and Vietnam The staff were fantastic, the breakfast good Lovely roof top bar and swimming pool, just the job after going round the temples and Angkor Wat. Really close to the night life, bars etc but we did not hear any noise Great value.
The pool was delightful, clean, picturesque and pleasant environment. Area was quiet away from busy town centre, but hotel offered free transport into city centre only 10 mins away. Staff very helpful organising transport and guide for Angkor Wat and other sites. Well looked after by their drivers. Free afternoon tea a treat.
Siem Reap
Amazing hostel for a ridiculously low price. The staff is kind and welcoming, the breakfast is perfectly fine, the free filtered cold water on the hallway is wonderful, the rooms are spacious enough. It really feels more like a hotel than a hostel. They also help with tours to Angkor Wat (which are also inexpensive!)
The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful with organising our itinerary through our tuk tuk driver/ guide, Lai. We highly recommend Lai to all travellers hoping to explore Angkor Wat and the surrounding historical monuments. Lai also taught us some basic cambodian which wad thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Lai!
The apartment was very chic and clean, and the bed as comfortable as a Hilton. The location was excellent -- a block from several great restaurants and cafes (even vegan options), and a short TUK TUK ride to Angkor Wat. Also, the service is sublime. Even a nice coffee stand as part of the Hotel's entrance.
Wonderful hotel and excellent staff. Easy to arrange transport to Angkor Wat.
I believe they enjoy being a part of Angkor Wat and showing it to the World.
Do take a guided tour of the temples but not with Siem Reap Shuttle Tours - such an amazing place to visit with so much to learn and discover...shame we had the tour guide from "I don't like you because you won't buy the expensive lunch on offer" so he from then on hardly spoke to us! Incredibly rude and spoilt what should have been one of our best explorations. Out of eight people on the tour we were the only two to stick it out till the end as we only had the one day to see as much as we could...we then had to watch many programmes on Angkor Wat to find out what we had just seen! A big shame.
We booked a taxi driver to take us to Angkor Wat and surrounding temples for the day and it only cost us $40, well worth it and got a lot of information from him.
i totally love the place the people there are nice and friendly the art of angkor wat is amazing and you must see it with your own eyes in life!
Visit their national museum, talk to people, ride the tuktuk, taste the local cuisine, visit Angkor Wat and the Temples, explore Pub street.
