Volubilis is just okay.

Volubilis is just okay. After multiple earthquakes, abandonment, local tribes using the ruins for construction purposes, this ancient city is mostly about 1 foot high. They have made some efforts to put some of the structures back together again, but mostly you really have to use your imagination to see it aa anything other than building blocks on the ground. This being said there are some interesting mosaics that have survived … amazingly.

The history of the Dar. Taking the time to talk to the ladies working there was wonderful. My wife found the Hammam a wonderful experience. A beautiful Walk to Volubilis through the olives a highlight.

Bear in mind this hasn't necessarily got all the comforts of a city hotel, but (I) Your hosts make you feel part of the family (ii) If you get a rooftop room, the view, especially at dusk, is magical (iii) If you eat in, it's surely the best restaurant in town (iv) The town centre is two minutes away. (v) It's a superb base for the walk to volubilis

Great location, the staff were great and very help full, near tourist attraction, near shops and places to eat, 5 km from Ancient Roman settlement of Volubilis a great place to go for a few hours, Breakfast was great, and got a meal when coming back from taking sunset shots ....

The riad is hard to find. Best is to follow a local guide which will probably approach you to show you the riad for some MAD. I got a room at the rooftop with a stunning view over Moulay Idris, the valley and even Volubilis. The riad is family owned and the owners are so friendly and helpful and they cook the best food in whole morocco! I recommend staying here.

Excellent stay. The staff were so lovely - this is a great stay, the food was excellent for dinner and breakfast. The room was wonderful - even had electric blankets on the bed. Moulay Idriss Zerhoune is a great town to spend time in watching normal life in Morocco, locals were friendly, we spent hours down having tea by the veg market - and of course Volubilis is really close by. It makes such a change to staying in the bigger cities, such beautiful countryside nearby

We were the only 6 guests and were made to feel like family. Hajiba is a delightful, welcoming and interesting woman. The donkey tour to Volubilis was a highlight of our stay in Morocco. We loved the food and the rooftop and Moulay Idriss itself. We travelled in low season and saw very few other tourists. So glad we stayed 2 nights.

Aziz went out of his way to make us feel at home. Lovely breakfast. Aziz even got up extra early so we could get to Volubilis very early. Immaculately clean bedroom and bathroom. Excellent location. Perfect place.

Nice location in a village just close to Volubilis, room was just ok with bathroom outside (but private)! Breakfast was really good!
