It was spacious and sunny with a nice balcony with bbq, easy walk to the beach, and Piha Store for essentials or a quick bite, surf club, Bowling club, close to the waterfalls, nice view and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the bedroom was equipped with lots of space for clothes etc The owners pretty much put everything ready for us to have a very relaxing ans enjoyable stay and were also very accommodating Loved our stay Thank you Amber !

If you are going out here via Titirangi, it is worthwhile...

If you are going out here via Titirangi, it is worthwhile going to Arataki Information center for the views and the interactive activities they have in the lodge. Piha is still recovering from the cyclones in 2023, but I found Piha enjoyable, firstly stopping on the hill and soaking up the view before going down and parking in the Domain and walking over the bridge on to the beach. Its bold and raw and grounding. I love it, but would never swim there without lifeguards. They've a sweet little art gallery of some very talented local and non local artists. Ive always taken my own food so can't comment on the food spots.

Really beautiful and lush - it is hard to believe that...

Really beautiful and lush - it is hard to believe that within only a short drive from Auckland you are in such a vibrant natural environment. Continue the drive over the ranges and you will reach the wild west coast beaches of Karekare and Piha - the former is very isolated, has black sand and is NOT safe for swimming (go surfcasting, fly a kite, walk the dogs, enjoy the sunsets etc), and the latter has facilities / cafes, is famous for surfing and has a patrolled area for swimming. However, the rips and undertow are still strong, so do so with caution even between the flags. As of March 2023, there has been serious damage to the roads and hillsides due to serious flooding and downed trees, so check on the state of the clean-up before you head that way.
