This hotel was luxury galore. Fantastic rooms with awesome linen. Perfect bathrooms. Amazing views. The train from the airport stops right outside the hotel, great bonus. So easy to walk from the hotel for sightseeing. A lot of wineshops around the hotel. Such a wonderful surprise when I arrived at the hotel.

Our stay was one of the most amazing hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Not only was the view absolutely breathtaking from the room but the staff were top notch. They made sure we were okay and had everything we needed the whole time we were there. Thiago the bartender was one of the best parts!! Welcoming friendly and great drinks. Our only regret of the trip is not being able to say bye to him! Thank you to everyone at the origine for a phenomenal trip!!!

Take the Linho do Douro train (~2h) and stay at least 2 days in Pinhao. Sit on the right hand side to enjoy the sights of the river. Take a rental for at least one night. Take a 2 hour boat ride, one hour is not enough. The next day you should do wine tasting, including a short tour of the winery. Top this off with a meal at the winery's restaurant, some of which carry Michelin stars. Do make reservations at one of the booths in front of the train station.

The Douro river trip is well worth doing, seeing the vineyards and old buildings along the way. There was 5 bridges to go under some newer that others, very interesting information given as you go along. A very special place.

The Luis I bridge is nice to walk across.

The Luis I bridge is nice to walk across. Go one way on the lower level, than back on the high level. Choose your time well, as it can be very crowded. Avoid Ribeira. It's too crowdy, too expensive and too touristic. Go a little upward into the town, you can find way better places.

Beautiful area but expect lots of walking.

Beautiful area but expect lots of walking. If having dinner in Riberia check out what time sunset is and be sure to be there when the sun goes down and the lights come on for a lovely view over the river.

River trip well worth doing.

River trip well worth doing. Walk over the bridge(pictured) almost rubbing shoulders with the passing trains for stunning views. Cable car amazing over the roof tops and down to the Port wine cellars. A tram service also takes you along the Douro to the sea.

Lots of ways to make the most of the river, cruises, ferry, walks, buses on the roads running parallel - and lots of places to simply stop and watch, whilst sipping a glass of something and eating a small plate of local cheeses.

The location is great in Porto only a 5 to 10 min walk to the Douro river and is close enough to the train stations and metro lines. It was a well-kept and clean apartment.

The rooms on the riverside were absolutely stunning: views of the Douro River with its changing moods and with increasing river traffic. There is an amazing variety of restaurants on the riverside. Also there is a bus, trams, and taxi stand all within the metres of the front door. The tourist attraction were close to the buses and taxi for easy convenience. 1872 River House was an impressive stay in Porto.

Fantastic views of the Douro River and the bridges, and fun watching the ships and boats go by. Pleasant furniture, nice decor and clean. The location works well for us but please note the building is located on a steep hill, so walking up or down requires some effort. After all, Porto is a hilly city. The stunning views and comfort of the apartment worth the effort.

Everything. This place, considering its price range, is near perfection. The shared bathroom was never a problem. Enough space in the room with air conditioner in case of hot weather. Great breakfast. Near the train and bus station. 30 minutes walk to the centre of Porto (or 2 stops of intra city train) and near the wonderful Douro river. I definitely would come back.

We had a pleasant stay at Pestana Douro Riverside. The breakfast was very tasty with a good variety of options, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. Another big advantage is the parking right next to the hotel, which made arriving and leaving very convenient.

Beautiful architecture and gardens, split levels, historical interiors and safe parking. Easy walking access to all sights albeit it’s all downhill! You need to be prepared to walk up at some point! We took a tour with ‘Captain Douro’ on a launch cruiser and motored up and down the Douro river and saw a beautiful sunset whilst sipping white port tonics. It was magical. We would highly the hotel and the trip.

The location is super great. Everything is nearby and you can reach many great restaurants, sights, and Douro river promenade while on foot. The staff was always available, friendly, and very responsive. The apartment we stayed in was clean, cozy, and every corner was furnished very practically.

Staying in a former Presidential Palace sounds like a treat - and it was. The grandest room for breakfast you will have ever experienced. We stayed in one of new rooms which was fine and well appointed with a good shower. Good location generally but a good 30 min walk to the Douro river down the hill. The pool looked fantastic albeit slightly on view for passers by.
