Martin Luxury Hotel was hands down the best stay of our entire trip to Albania! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The owner was absolutely amazing—friendly, outgoing, and incredibly thoughtful. He personally picked us up from the bus stop without us even asking, and gave us the best room available. Our room had two balconies, with the main one facing the road and offering a direct view of the stunning Gjirokastër Castle. The architecture of the hotel was top-notch—elegant design with beautiful rooms and 5-star facilities. On arrival, we were treated to complimentary drinks, including a special local Gjirokastër drink, which was such a nice touch. What really stood out was the owner’s genuine care—he even came late at night just to bring us water when he thought we might not have any. That level of hospitality is rare and unforgettable. Truly a perfect stay. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Gjirokastër!

The food was terrific. Albania is now one of my top five cuisines. On Saturday not only did I have a fabulous meal topped off by the Gjirocaster desert oshaf, but I enjoyed the live music provided. Breakfast is huge with lots of local dishes. It kept me full till dinner. I loved the decor, which is based on traditional Albanian furnishings and textiles. I the property is way up in the mountains overlooking the castle which is great for the view, but a challenge if you’re going to walk up. All in all, it’s worth the occasional hike up the mountains. The hotel will arrange a taxi.

The staff was so friendly here and the rooms are brand new. They have a Nespresso machine in the room, robes, and it is clean. You will have to drive through the cobblestone roads to get to it, but there is a parking lot and the staff guide you on the right direction to take into town. You won’t regret staying here!
