Papa took care of us really really well, very cozy, well run lodge. I really enjoyed my time here, especially the onsen after ski! That was amazing.

Offering a terrace and hot spring bath, Maruyama Onsen Kojyokan is situated in Minami Uonuma, 2 km from Maiko Snow Resort. Free private parking is available on site. Truly one of the most wonderful inns I’ve stayed at in all of my times in Japan! The place is immaculate and feels lovely and new while also having a wonderful 「懐かしい」 vibe to it. From the very start all of the staff were kind and considerate and showed us all the ropes! I adored that the entry into the rooms is all keyless—there’s touch keypads on the doors! We tried all three baths since we reserved the wonderful private rooftop bath. As an FYI for anyone unaccustomed to such a thing, the rooms themselves do not have showers—you’re meant to use the bath areas for your cleaning, so if you’re uncomfortable with the onsen experience in Japan just be aware! You totally should get over your anxieties and use the bath though—they’re relaxing and luxuriant! We had one dinner with them and two breakfasts, and all of the food was absolutely delightful! The breakfast was buffet style and full of local/seasonal ingredients, and the dinner was course after course and we were very very well fed. All in all, I can’t say enough wonderful things. We adored our stay!

Yuzawa Grand Hotel is within a 2-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Train Station and the Sake Museum. It offers 3 public baths, a massage service and free parking on site. The location of the hotel is excellent: it is within 3-minute walk from the train station. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, very clean, and quiet. We are very pleasantly surprised by its meal services. The hotel has excellent breakfast and dinner: both meals offer a great variety of cuisines (both western and Japanese); the Japanese option is very good. The outdoor onsen is great. The staff are a bonus: very friendly and eager to help.

Featuring 10 uniquely designed hot spring baths, Shosenkaku Kagetsu provides Japanese-style accommodation just a 5-minute walk from JR Echigo Yuzawa Train Station. Staff and services are top notch! I was one of the best stays in Japan so far. The structure is relatively simple, but the service is so good that we felt very welcomed after our skiing trip.

Set in peaceful landscapes, Kogakuro offers pleasant Japanese-style rooms with plenty of natural light. It features indoor and outdoor hot springs, a library and a cosy lounge with a fireplace. Amazing staff, lots of help organising everything.

Adamo Akakura se bucură de o locație excelentă în cartierul Akakura Onsen din Myoko, la 34 km de Templul Zenkoji, la 36 km de Gara Nagano și la 44 km de Jigokudani Yaen Kōen. It's brand new and the location is great, the staff are amazing and the quilts were the best ever. Big thanks the Grace, Oscar, Noah, Charlie, Lucy and the rest of the staff.

From the moment we arrived, the hosts went above and beyond. After a long flight from New Zealand, we weren’t fully organised, but they helped us with everything, even offering us dinner and arranging a car a few days later so we could get around easily. They didn’t just host us; they genuinely became friends. The place itself is very traditional, full of authentic Japanese character, and the location is perfect, right next to the chairlift up to Suginohara. Service-wise, they were always checking in and making sure we were well looked after. 10/10 experience.

Beautiful and relaxing place to relax. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were spacious and comfortable with a fun retro feel and the food was exceptional.

Koshi no yado Takashimaya se găsește în Niigata, la aproximativ 35 km de Gara Nigata și la 4,1 km de Yahiko Shrine. We have stayed at many onsens around Japan over the years but this place is the very best of any we have stayed! It is a historic building that has 200 + years of history. Even the Japanese emperor stayed here a long time ago. On arrival the building looks a bit old but you quickly learn that it is nothing to be concerned about. Staff members, both old and young are exceptional and carry on the traditions of Japanese hospitality. The food, both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Great variety of traditional Japanese cuisines. Every meal different items (except rice of course :>) . The natural spring hot tub just outside the room was very spacious. Temperature is adjustable by yourself. Truly a great place to spend 3 nights or more. Neighborhood walking also pleasant.
