This was a great introduction to a ryokan experience. While it’s part of a chain, it still felt authentic. Very spacious rooms, impeccable cleanliness. The onsen is one of the best we’ve experienced, with a view of ghe mountains. The food was so generous, prepared with the highest level of attention to sourcing local ingredients, respecting seasonal produce, and balancing flavors. This was a really lovely stay.

Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. Wonderful place, super clean and close to Takayama train station. Super nice staff. Loved the onsen and the size of the room. They give you traditional slippers and kimonos to wear in the facility. Fantastic experience.

Located in a 100 year-old Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Ryokan Hostel K's House is located in Shizuoka, a 7-minute walk from JR Ito Train Station. It was very beautiful and had complete amenities. It’s an honor to stay in this historical hostel. The hosts were very nice and accomodating

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. The resort is amazing, you can truly relax and experience the onsen culture away from crowds and in a very original way. Rooms are very nice and clean and the private onsen are the best added value if you want to have privacy and relax in the onsen.

The food is pricey but soo worth it. The breakfast was incredible. Its not a buffet, which I loved, because the quality is higher. The onsen is super nice, sauna is the largest I've ever seen. Room decor and functionality is 15/10. The best Its a nice halfway point if you're driving to Osaka.
