My wife and I stayed in the chamber d'hôtes having made the booking very last minute as we meandered unpredictably down through France in our electric car. The owners were brilliant in confirming availability within half an hour of our request which was really helpful. Others have commented eloquently on the accommodation and location and we fully concur - it offered a wonderfully peaceful interlude in a sometimes fraught travel itinerary. We were given good advice regarding a restaurant to head to in St Cirq Lapopie which did not disappoint, with the added bonus of car charger in the town which fed the battery, albeit slowly, whilst we were enjoying dinner. In the morning, a very enjoyable continental breakfast was brought over in a large basket, and we had the company of 5 adventurous kittens on the outside terrace. The owners are inspirational in all that they are trying to achieve, growing plants and vegetables, running the gite and the hotel d'hôtes, organising musical and theatrical events during the summer, and looking after dogs, cats and the clients with good humour.

A wonderful rooftop apartment with amazing views over Saint Cirq Lapoppie. The hostess was very friendly and informative, the garden had especially great views and spaces to sit to eat or have a drink. Parking is provided and easy to get to, everything was great. We'd love to return for longer one day.

ACCOMMODATION: Set at the beginning of a walk into the medieval village, the gite studio was modern, tastefully decorated and with most essentials provided. Excellent shower. Plenty of plugs. LAPOPIE: Magical! The steep walk through the village was barely noticeable as we just couldn't believe what we were seeing. I described it as like a scene from Disney but real! Medieval buildings housing quaint little shops, bars and restaurants. The narrow roads in-between were stone paved and very clean. Views from a ruin site were breathtaking, overlooking the rooftops, valley and river Lot. The riverside itself has a man-made small beach, part of a campsite, free parking. Safe bathing, recommend wearing swim shoes as river bed floor stoney. There is a small bar, pizzeria and music. Grassy area to sit and enjoy.

The location can’t be beat. The host was present when we arrived as he is working on another project just below the unit we stayed in. We were a bit disappointed when the parking spot we expected was being used by someone staying in another unit. There was a much less convenient alternate parking area we could use and it was ok for us but if you really need it, I recommend that you confirm with the host that the parking space is yours as advertised since there is only one space for a few units. Otherwise, the apartment is small but charming and clean with a little terrace that is a perfect place to sit with a cold glass of rosé. The town is just exceptional to walk around ( uphill/downhill) and there are many wonderful restaurants to enjoy.

The location was fabulous, this village is stunning and I wish we had stayed more than one night but we did manage to see a ,ot in that time as it is quite compact. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. The hotel is derstanbably old but has had a modern fit out in the bathrooms. Ours was spacious for a French hotel bathroom. , but as usual no where to hang things but this seems to be standard in hotels. You can drive to this particular hotel unlike others, drop your luggage off and then drive up the road to a public carpark which is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel via a pathway. This is a big bonus been so close to an area where you can easily unload. We would definitely return to this very beautiful village and this hotel. It was a very pleasant stay.

Very central location in St. Cirque Lapopie. The location is in a very narrow an steep, lil' road, and you need to walk to it; not a big deal for us, but it could be a concern for others.
