Everything was just perfect, all the communication prior and during the stay. Host family made a delicious dinner for us even when it was bit late. We felt here like a part of the family. And the Glamping area? Wow. That was something. Our tent was a pure cosiness in every case. I will never sleep anywhere else around Vardzia than here, thank you!

If you're looking for a great comfy place to stay from which to check out the Vardzia caves (8 minute drive away), then this is it. Clean comfy rooms, excellent food and friendly owners. The fresh fish and wine, both "made" on premise is an excellent bonus!

The family were all wonderful and helpful. We visited in the winter which is likely not peak season for the area, it’s when my son had time off from school and we wanted to visit the area. It was pretty cold out and pretty much stayed to our room to keep warm. There is a nice balcony and it looks as though you could go on a nice walk if interested. As we were leaving we asked if she could fill our water bottles and she returned with the water plus a bag of apples. Which made a nice snack on our visit to Vardzia Caves.

Staying in Vardzia for 3 nights at Gvala was a great decision. Most people do day tours to the caves and only spend 1.5 hours or so before eating at the restaurant and leaving back to Tbilisi or Kutaisi. That is a lot of driving for a rushed tour of a massive cave city complex. If you're coming this far, stay overnight and do so at Gvala. The photos of the area don't do it justice, as the landscape is more dramatic than we expected. There is some nice hiking/ walking opportunities from the entrance to the caves and fortress ruins worth visiting. The area is in the countryside and was a refreshing break from the rest of our busy trip. There's no bank or atm in the area so make sure to bring enough cash with you. Tomas and his wife were very nice hosts and extremely generous with their food and wine (and chacha). Breakfast (20 GEL) and dinner (30 GEL) were delicious and there was always more than enough food. Everything is homemade including the honey, jam, and wine. For one dinner they brought us terrific kinkhali from a local restaurant. Tomas was helpful shuttling us in the area and we even had an after hours visit to the local sulfur bath. They also helped us with our laundry for free. Saba, their grandson who helps them over the summers, is very attentive and fun. He speaks excellent English and was very helpful for us when communicating with his grandparents. Whenever we were relaxing he was offering us complimentary coffee, tea, and juicy watermelon to snack on. We had a great time and are very happy we stayed at Gvala.

Property is set up on a hill with a direct view of Vardzia caves and the entire valley below from the terrace. Staff very friendlyl and helped with coordinating local travel and services. Everything is modern and in working condition and very clean.

This guest house is truly lovely, owned and managed by a wonderful family. The courtyard is amazing, and the grandmother kindly gave us fresh chilies that she picked herself. We were also treated to delicious homemade yogurt and freshly plucked Peaces. The original pictures don't do justice to how charming this place really is. They even have a small pool with fresh fish that can be caught and eaten. The surrounding village is absolutely stunning, we saw grandmother of the house make fresh Cherry juice on fire lit on wooden, it was a great experience for kids over all to witness village life.

If you are looking for an authentic Georgian experience, this is the place, the couple running the place were extremely warm and friendly, the food was amazing and made fresh everyday. the room was spacious and clean and the surroundings were amazing. I highly recommend staying there.
