I've had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Laxnes both in winter 2018, and then again this summer 2026 - we were impressed both times. The staff is friendly, kind and accommodating (include for our food allergies), the facilities and rooms clean and comfortable. The location is great for getting into Reykjavik (either by car or public transport), and it is also a great jumping off point for both the Golden Circle/heading for the south coast, or heading north on the west coast/to the west fjords. Parking is available on site, and we booked both times with breakfast that was great. Worth noting we had a triple room both bookings, which had an extra twin bed that I found quite comfortable for sleeping.

The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood (not in the downtown tourist district) which was ideal for our trip. It is, however, close to restaurants and a short drive to the mall which is convenient. We chose this for the free included parking space and a washing machine. The studio apartment was nicely appointed and offered many kitchen cooking items should someone want to cook using the cooktop. We did not cook, but appreciated the provided snacks upon arrival, a few beverages, and opportunity to use many spices, etc. in the pantry. It was an easy drive to the cruise terminal. The host was very kind and patient with some travel issues we had prior to our arrival. We would stay again.

The property was clean and very well styled. The welcoming champagne was a nice touch as was the sodas and water in the fridge. When we arrived, it was wonderful that the hot tub was already warm and I immediately got it. The area around the dome was quiet and peaceful. The view was beautiful. We made a fire in the stove and went to bed. Slept very well!

Very friendly and helpful host who had left a thoughtful goodbye bag of presents for our children which was really kind. The free parking was great, it made moving suitcases etc around before an early flight much easier. The apartment was very clean and had amazing views of Reykjavík and the harbour. It was 10-15 min drive to the old harbour which we used a taxi for as it was eclipse day and we weren’t sure about road closures and parking but otherwise it would have been an easy drive.
