We arrived tired and hungry at 7pm after a long day of kayaking in Saguenay and the proprietor's answer to our request for dinner suggestions (go to the grocery store for a baguette, some paté, and a bottle of wine and eat it on the balcony) was perfect. We enjoyed the proprietor's sense of humor and chit-chat over breakfast in the morning. He kindly also let us spread out our wet camping gear on the fence and lawn to drive so that we could properly repack it before continuing our journey into Quebec where wouldn't need it for several days.

Contemporary accommodations at Hotel 71 are furnished with a spacious work desk, a DVD surround sound system and wireless internet access. I loved everything about my stay, especially the bed, which was incredibly comfortable. The room felt warm and cozy, with tall ceilings and a charming brick interior. The bathroom was nice and spacious, and having L'Occitane en Provence toiletries was a lovely treat. The food and service at the hotel restaurant were exquisite! The location was ideal, as it was right across the street from the Museum of Civilization and the harbor, and just a few minutes away from the center of the old town.
