Featuring mountain views and a garden, 馬籠ふるさと学校 Magome Furusato Gakkou offers accommodation attractively situated in Nakatsugawa, within a short distance of Toson Memorial Museum, Magome Wakihonjin... Very cute guesthouse! We stayed in the “principal’s office” which was a very large private room. Bathroom facilities are shared but very clean and no difficulty with access. Lounge space was nice to hang out in. Staff were excellent- they helped us book a dinner reservation ahead of time which was greatly appreciated. About a 6-7 minute walk away from the main tourist area of Magome.

Very nice hotel, perfectly located: close to the train and bus station, and within walking distance from most tourist spots. Staff could communicate in English well. My room was spacious and well equipped. The hotel has an onsen (hot bath), which I unfortunately didn't have time to try out. I wish I could stay longer!

Onyado Yuinosho býður upp á gufubað og ókeypis einkabílastæði og er í innan við 45 km fjarlægð frá Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village og 46 km frá Takayama-stöðinni. Best experience ever. Huge room with amazing river and mountain view. The onsite onsen was amazing. Complimentary clothes to wear onsite was an added bonus. Best sake I had in japan Free shuttle from village bus stop

Conveniently situated in the centre of Takayama, HOTEL WOOD TAKAYAMA provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Absolutely perfect, the best hotel experience in our 3 week Japan trip! Only a bit negative side is that there is only japanese breakfast option, however taken all the other things into consideration, still 10/10 experience.

600 metres from Shirakawago, Shirakawago Guest House Kei is set in Shirakawa and offers rooms with free WiFi. All rooms feature a kitchen and a shared bathroom. A nice hostel at a good location.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Spacious! Which is hard to find for dormitories. And exceptionally clean. Really appreciated the quiet ambience and comfortable lounge, with complimentary tea and drip coffee. Lots of manga and books to browse through, along with a thorough sightseeing and food map. Also a very cute variety of Ghibli decorations and memorabilia in the lounge area. Location is close to Takayama Eki but in the snow it was a bit hard to go to and from with a wheel suitcase. Any other weather and it is completely walkable.
