The 高野山 宿坊 西禅院 -Koyasan Shukubo Saizenin- features luggage storage and free parking. Beautiful shukubo in Koyasan. The temple is across from the Konpon Daito Pagoda, easy to reach from the bus stop. The breakfast and dinner were very nice and delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The facilities were spotless and really clean. Our room had a view of the garden which made it feel very calm and peaceful. This is one of our favorite accommodations in Japan!

A 1000 year-old Buddhist temple, Shukubo Koya-san Eko-in offers Japanese-style accommodation, a beautiful garden and free WiFi. Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. The location, room, garden has awesome atmosphere- I loved the meditation session and the fire ritual! We stayed for two nights and took evening cemetery tour which was informative and mysterious at the same time! Dinners are superb! I booked family room for two of us and it was great and spacious. I would recommend this place for anyone interested in Buddhism or with appreciation of esoteric teachings. Staff is caring and attentive!

Would definitely stay again if in Shirahama!

Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming. I have coeliac disease, and they went out of their way to make us a vegetarian and gluten-free breakfast which was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed a welcome drink in the garden. The room was beautiful and comfortable, and shared bathroom facilities were nice and clean. Would recommend to anyone walking the Kumano Kodo and passing through Chikatsuyu.

It was also approximately 8 minutes from Kumano Hayatama Taisha and in front of the bus stop heading towards to Nachi. Our host, Sasaki-san, was also kind to give us an introduction to the place along with offering free icecream, beer and sake! Overall we recommend this place!
