The room was absolutely fabulous, and we were delighted to receive an upgrade. Having our own private onsen-style facility in the bathroom made the experience truly special. Situated in Nachikatsuura, 1.6 km from Nachi Beach, Pension Sora features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. Its just an amazing place. Very beautiful and comfortable, staff so kind, helpful and friendly. Food is so good. I will really come back for a longer stay.

Comfort Hotel Kii Tanabe is set in Tanabe, 5.3 km from Tanabe City Museum of Art and 6.9 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall. Facilities are new and clean. All staff are very friendly. Breakfast is good. Free luggage storage service is very convenient for Kumano hikers.

Boasting garden views, ゲストハウス柚 features accommodation with free bikes, a garden and a terrace, around 200 metres from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. A very kind and hospitable host who left us many thoughtful gifts — coffee, candies, and even ice cream in the fridge! The room was cozy and comfortable, and we especially loved the couches. The bath was a real treat after a long day of walking. We only stayed one night, but we wish we could have stayed longer — it’s such a lovely place!

NONAGASE GUEST HOUSE er gististaður með garði í Chikatsuyu, 300 metra frá Kumanokodo Nakahechi-listasafninu, 29 km frá Kamitonda-tónlistarhúsinu og 31 km frá Hosshinmon Oji-helgiskríninu. Due to limited availability when I booked, Nonagase ended up being a bit fancier than my usual accommodation choices – but I certainly didn’t regret it! The building and rooms were absolutely stunning, and they even have a lovely little beer garden. The staff were perfect as well. I’d highly recommend staying here!

簡易宿所 ふくろく is located in Shingu, less than 1 km from Kamikura Shrine, a 13-minute walk from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, as well as 1.4 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. The location is very near JR Shingu station with restaurants, konbini and a supermarket nearby. Host is very accommodating and very helpful with all my needs.

Located in Shingu, 400 metres from Kamikura Shrine, 長徳寺宿坊 Temple Hotel has a garden, private parking and rooms with free WiFi access. I came late through the check in time because I missed the train and the host was understanding with me. The room was big, could be for four people, but I was alone and had all the amenities and was comfy. Would recommend if you plan to stay in Shingu.

Set in Tanabe in the Wakayama region, with Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art nearby, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO features accommodation with access to a hot tub. Ike is a great host. Great dinner for a reasonable price. Breakfast and bento box for lunch on the trek available, both good. We'd visit again and recommend this place to others!
