The price was below what we would pay for a budget motel in the US. However, this was a 4-star hotel. The breakfast was a full spread of meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, smoked salmon, omelets to order and a wide selection of coffees. It was not downtown, but my wife and I love to walk and easily made the 4 km walk into town on a daily basis. Once, we caught the bus which was super convenient, as many bus routes go to the hospital, which is next door to the hotel.

Situated in Bilbao, 200 metres from Arriaga Theatre, Hotel Tayko Bilbao was built in 1924. The property is within just 0.2 km of Catedral de Santiago and 15 minutes' walk from Guggenheim Museum. We loved the location in the old city center, it was excellent, we could walk everywhere! We loved the room, very comfy and full of design.

Less than 5 km from the coast and beside the Basque town of Irun, this charming hotel has a lovely garden and free internet. had a wonderful stay at Hotel Atalaia on the hottest day of the summer. The staff was incredibly welcoming and thoughtful with both us and our dog. They managed to get us the last available table at their restaurant, which turned out to be amazing—the food was delicious, and the chef is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. A truly warm and memorable experience. Highly recommended!
