It was really nice to interact with the family and see how they live. Trung speaks excellent English and was happy to talk about the local culture. The rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the shower is very good. We enjoyed dinner two nights. The food was basic but tasty and plentiful. Breakfasts were perfect crepes with fresh fruit, accompanied by sticky rice. After spending a couple of hours at the Sunday market, We took a drive with him to Ban Lien. This is his favourite area of northern Vietnam. We hiked about a kilometre and visited three very rustic and authentic homestays, where travellers live with the ethnic minorities in their houses. (These do not have nice beds like the Trung homestay - just mattresses on the floor and a curtain!). On the drive there and back we stopped many times to photograph the Rice Terrace and beautiful vistas. Late September / early October is perfect time as the rice is just about to be harvested and at its most beautiful. Mr Trung is clearly a well-known and respected member of the community. He is helping other homestays start to operate and help tourists appreciate this beautiful region.

New hotel, most possibly the best in town in this category and price range. Perfect quality, full amenities you need, and a very attentive and nice staff! Just walking distance to the market and everywhere we needed during our 2 nights stay. The reception also managed to rent us their own motorcycles after finding out there are no rentals in town. Simply best hospitality! Recommend and will come back when have a chance.

If you want an authentic experience in a boutique luxury bungalow overlooking orchards and orange trees, this is a fantastic choice. Quaint and cute, run by a beautiful family, you will not regret making this booking. What an amazing experience. Book the cooking class and a foot massage. Winner winner!
