Boasting a ski-to-door access to Nakazato Snow Wood Ski Area, Hotel Angel Grandia Echigo Nakazato is located a 20-25-minute drive from Echigo-Yuzawa Station via a free shuttle bus. Could not fault this place. Family of 6, first time skiiers, Ski rental next door (no need to book), and the hotel provides a large ski locker for each room on the ground floor ... so literally ski straight out the hotel door to either Nakazato Snow Wood or the bigger Yuzawa Nakazato resort. Yuzawa has a better ski learning area and ski school (escalator on beginner slope) which is well worth paying for if you are learning to ski or snowboard ... its no more than a 200m walk from hotel. Breakfast/dinner buffet was amazing and well worth the money. Hotel has a public onsen (free) and a good heated/indoor pool/gym which costs about 600yen per day ... pool/gym were quiet (which was great) due to the small entry fee. Overall this hotel is run like a swiss watch ... staff amazing given the large number of guests ! The only slight negative for some guests is that you should know this is a very "japanese" hotel and the majority of guests are Japanese. Personally no issue, everyone very polite ... but if you're expecting 8 different styles of eggs on the buffet you will be dissappointed .. it's very much a Japanese menu ...

Set within 49 km of Ryuoo Ski Park and 49 km of Zenkoji Temple, Lotte Arai Resort features rooms in Myoko. Very lush, this was a really nice experience but of course, that comes with a cost. Everything was exceptional the room was stunning, facilities great, not to mention the skiing. Included breakfast had everything you could possibly want, catering to all tastes :-)
