We liked the traditional style and especially the small splash pool, to cool off in. The location at the heart of Lamu town was really special.

The plunge pool provided a welcome antidote to the heat. The staff were amazing, with Safari seeing to my every need, and Abu producing fresh and delicious meals. A real refuge.

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and views of garden, Baytulkher is a recently renovated bed and breakfast set in Lamu, 100 metres from 18th Century Swahili House Museum. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay. The bed and breakfast offers sea views, a sun terrace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available. The location was easy to find and we felt safe moving around in the area after dark. The Queen Deluxe room was great. The staff was caring and attentive. The room was clean. The “balcony” or the open room near bedroom was beautiful, cozy and pleasant to spend time at. There were mosquito nets on the bed. It is obvious that lots of love and effort has been put into restoration of the building.
