Our room's design was smart and cozy, it was a wonderful experience waking up and seeing the lake and mountains from bed after arriving to the hotel at night.
Breakfast was served until 12.30pm. The chef's shakshouka was a favorite, and among the best I ever had. The food variety, freshness and quality were top grade.
We were allowed to use the spa until 2pm after checkout, which allowed us to depart feeling well rested and fresh. The facilities themselves were smartly designed and very enjoyable.

Check out is very pleasant at 12:00. Convenient number of electric sockets. The only issue is people smoking on the balconies. If you open the window, your room will be full of smoke. So much smoke like here I have not 'enjoyed' for the last five years...

It’s one of those hidden gems that you can’t stop praising, but also want to keep it secret.
Locals travel to Ebensee a lot, but not as many international tourist.
Our hotel had everything needed. Excellent room, excellent breakfast, super convenient location close to everything. And restaurant by hotel is just is exceptional.

Amazing service from all personnel encountered (hotel & restaurant). Great location with wonderful view of the lake. Just far enough from town for peace and quiet, but close enough for access.
Impressive breakfast buffet and good selection and servings at the restaurant.

The saunas have a beautiful view and the pool with counter-current is also sufficient, the most beautiful are the trips to the surroundings :) Wifi is stable, the water in the pool is warm, there are excellent teas by the sauna. Parking is sufficient and free.

Flexible check-in and check-out, very polite and helpful staff, comfortable bed, quiet and peaceful surroundings, and an amazing view of the lake and mountains. The room was spotless and nicely furnished. It exceeded my expectations.

Gmunden is a wonderful town for a vacation because it offers so many diverse activities. You can visit the famous porcelain museum and manufacture, explore the beautiful castle on the island (Schloss Ort), and enjoy both the stunning lake and the surrounding mountains. There are truly plenty of different options for everyone!

Traunsee is a true balm for the soul and a stunning Alpine lake. If you stay outside the main towns, you can experience the peaceful side of the lake – quiet, incredibly clear water, great mountain views, and relaxing atmosphere. It is the perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature, swim in crystal-clear water and recharge. Highlight of our trip was paddle board on the lake. We recommend to visit Traunkirchen church and the chapel on the top.

Small town, in which people great each others warmly. Close to Feuerkogel - nice ski area and to larger cities - Bad Ischl and Gmunden, for either relaxion visits or shopping. A warm feeling of visiting your grandparents.

The friendly host was waiting for our arrival and assisted us with check-in, and upon entering the accommodation, we were welcomed with chocolates.
Everything was absolutely flawless.
The host resides on the second floor, while the lower level features a private room reserved exclusively for our use.
There is a lush, wooded walking path right in front of the house.

A quiet residential village on the more mountainous southern...
A quiet residential village on the more mountainous southern end of the Traunsee, picturesquely embedded in its dramatic surroundings. Wooden boat houses fringe the water's edge like an ancient lake village, and there is a small campsite, bathing beach and beach cafe. Rindbach invites an evening stroll, with enough quaint and traditional cottages and villas along some of its small streets to transport you to another time.
For practical facilities (shops, tourist information, train station), the small town of Ebensee is less than a mile away, and for summer walking and as a base to discover the area, I reckon it's probably a more relaxed option than the more famous nearby tourist spots like Bad Ischl or Wolfgangsee.
Don't miss a trip to the nearby Langbaht lakes for a swim!

This area of the Austrian lakes is perfect for off-season hiking.
However, Gmunden lacks specialty coffee places. There are also few interesting pubs and restaurants, and many places close early. Shops were typically open only until 6:00 PM.

In November you do not have much to do there. We found only on restaurant and one café house open, nothing else.
I did not get why any (zero!) souvenir shop is not existing there - I am sure tourists would appreciate to buy some small souvenirs and support the local business by doing this.

lovely location, great in the summer and if you are there for the dark sky park (for those night photographers, or just astronomy lovers) its perfect. Go on a new moon though as that is when the sky is at its best.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent! The room was super clean, the bed was comfortable. and the bathroom was great- excellent shower pressure! We had access to an elevator which helped with the bags and we had a fantastic view of the area on the top floor along with a balcony. I had a minor issue with the reservation on booking.com and the manager/ owner was very accommodating and helped me resolve it. I would highly recommend this property. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

Gmunden is in a beautiful setting on the lake and surrounded...
Gmunden is in a beautiful setting on the lake and surrounded by mountains. There are beautiful, old buildings and some interesting independent shops. We enjoyed the Christmas Market which, although small, was full of artisanal products.
The weather was mainly foggy and damp, although we had a little snow on Christmas Eve, so we didn't do all the things we had planned, such as a cable car ride up to Gruenberg, but we enjoyed visiting Stoegmullers, a large fashion department store and La Sonett patisserie and bakery, which has the most sumptuous cakes. (They also have apartments in a very convenient location).
The Schlossort, the castle on the lake is worth a visit - and a few photographs - and has a large car park, which is a bit of a walk from the castle but the route is flat.
We only ate out once, because the cooking facilities and equipment at the apartment were so good, which was at a Greek restaurant called Meteora, at the end of the street where the apartment was located. The food was hearty and extremely tasty and the staff very friendly and obliging. We would certainly go back there.
Getting around Gmunden is easy, due to the frequent buses and their tram line, which runs from the Bahnhof to the Rathausplatz. If you want to use your car, there is a convenient underground parking garage near the lake and good on street parking, although you will need to download a parking app.
Gmunden has something for everyone, great sporting activities, fitness centres etc, as well as good restaurants and bars and excellent shopping opportunities. We plan to return later in the year.
