I absolutely loved Leuven. I went during the summer for an academic conference at KU Leuven, and it was my third time in Belgium, my second time visiting (having come for a day trip once before with family). I feel like I could easily spend far more time in Leuven because not only are the sights stunning, but the city's atmosphere and culture make it a blast to stay. I stayed near the primary Leuven train station, which was a wonderful choice. Leuven has a fine bus system, but as long as you're in the city center, it is incredibly easy and safe to walk to almost anywhere you want to see. In my time there, I was able to watch the World Cup on the public screens spread across the Oude Markt square, relax at an open-air cafe and chat with people I met, attend the local music festival and dance in the town square, and so much more. It was most definitely a place where you can go at your own pace and feel the community on every street. My only complaint is that there was too much to do and not enough time to sleep!

A really bad experience and before it is mentioned, I understand that this is a budget hotel. Had booked up this hotel weeks prior to arrival and had made a “special” request to the hotel prior to our arrival which was NOT met and noted down immediately, which I thought was annoying and rather upsetting. Upon arrival the hotel staff were more interested in talking to each other and didn’t really care much for our arrival, just “can I have your passport please” and “here’s your key”, nothing really in the sense of information of breakfast (which led to another incident the day after) or general information of the surrounding area (transportation). The room itself was basic however was dusty, and as we found the out the morning after, also had bed bugs which my wife found out the hard way after waking to up find a very large and irritating bug bite on her lower side! We are not the first to make this discovery as well as other reviews have also left the same complaint! Breakfast, upon arriving downstairs the morning after we had arrived we decided to try and sit down to have something to eat only to be told that we had not booked it in, which I believe I had already booked, with this we did not have anything to eat or drink and decided to go in to the city which, now thinking on it, was probably the better idea to do as the breakfast options really did not warrant the price that was requested for us to pay! I never like to leave a hotel dissatisfied however this entire experience has left me feeling uncomfortable about having ANY form of future booking again! And judging by the other comments regarding “training” towards staff or improvement of hygiene, none of these have been completed at all The only positive experience that we had about this hotel was leaving it, knowing that we would not have to return! Extremely disappointed with the whole experience and will be definitely requested some form of refund this is, albeit it a “budget” hotel was disgusting!

Quiet suburb of Brussels, close to airport but with convenient connections to town (train every 15-some minutes). Also, across from the train station are several good places to eat including one excellent noodle place named Nanaban.

My family stayed in Diest for one night attending a music festival in Werchter the following day. England were playing DR congo in the world cup ,and we watched as the only 3 England fans watching on the big screen in the lovely town square. Belgium were playing later and The locals were very welcoming .couple of older gents in one of the busy bars chatted with us like old friends'helping sort out our travel plans saving us an hour and a few quid!

Vilvoorde is a beautiful city. I love to go for walks and just about walked everywhere. There are many parks, rivers, creeks, a canal, and many paths to walk on. Vilvoorde has done a magnificent job at keeping the area very green and walkable.

Ruisbroek is a peaceful area, not much to see compared to Brussels city centre, Brugge and Ghent. Brugge is beautiful and worth the visit. I booked my visit to Brugge and Ghent with GetYourGuide and it was worth every euro. The tour guides were knowledgeable. On of our guides, Angie, suggested a few places worth trying in terms of food: Fin de Siecle, Grimbergen Cafe, Chez Leon, Le Cirio, Galet, Nona, Mer Du Nord. I tried 4 of them and it was worth it.

Lovely town, the abbey is GORGEOUS! So many great, relaxing places to stroll. We walked around the Prinsenbos and met a man named Didier Francois (a musician) who very kindly talked to us about the 'lost wax' casting class he was teaching. Highly recommend eating at Fenikshof, and definitely sampling the beers from the Abbey

This is a university city. There is a plenty of students. Different kind of restaurants. Very nice old city. Everywhere there are a bicycle alleys. City is connection with others cities by train. Shedule is convenient for everyone.

It's a nice airport hotel, relatively close to the airport. The resaurant was okay. It was very difficult to contact the hotel before we arrived to ask some simple questions. Either we were sent to some massive switchboard and the options menu was not in English.

Zaventem is close to the airport - our main reason for choosing this town. It is an easy journey by train into Brussels central which I would recommend because traffic and parking is difficult. We had a 50% weekend pass so the return trip for both of us was Euros 10.
