One of the best, most entertaining cities in North America.
One of the best, most entertaining cities in North America. For visitors from the US, it's like a trip to France. History and churches and museums and great walks along antique streets. Great restaurants at all price levels--Montrealers just won't tolerate mediocre meals. The music and comedy scenes are world class. And it's wonderful to hear French spoken everywhere.Guest review byBernardWeltUnited States - 6.0
Views of the water & historical landmarks were the best.
Views of the water & historical landmarks were the best. Tourist Visitors Center was awesome. We used it several times. So many tourists fighting for sidewalk space & outdoor seating for meals got to be a challenge. We did whale watching tour & Plains of Abraham tour. We visited Parliament - check in there was very through. We thought we were cleared for state secrets. Ha!Guest review byAlice - 10.0

A variety of activities were available - for all ages. I thought it was a bit of a money grab to charge people to go to what should be a public beach. There were lots of excellent restaurant choices.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

It was very much a place of French culture which I love and it is a vary attractive city which great amenities and well located for going to Gaspe or the Maritimes. A nice stop en route and worth a longer stay. Great dining options and accommodations.Guest review byPeterCanada - 10.0
You have to learn French. Seriously.
You have to learn French. Seriously. I repeat, you have to learn a lot more French than the survival French you think you are good with. They speak so fast. They understand your shitty French but you don't understand them. Townspeople are very nice people. Bring coins for bus. Transit App may not work. Cell signal is bad sometimes. Take a paper map for free at Bureau Tourisme. Taxi is shit. Read Google reviews. Uber is unavailable, the app will try to match you with a driver then tell you there is a bug or error or no driver.Guest review byChunyangCanada - 10.0
Dorval Airport: Easy to navigate. Helpful staff.
Dorval Airport: Easy to navigate. Helpful staff. Clean and fresh. Cleaning staff were cleaning, not just pushing equipment around, they were busy doing their job. The bus service from the airport into the city is excellent. Other airports could benefit from a similar system.Guest review byGwendolynCanada - 8.0
Beautiful scenery.
Beautiful scenery. Parking is much too expensive, but the town is small enough to walk everywhere. The whales didn't show up. For a tourist town, too many signs are French only with no English translations!Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

The Cape Shrine is a beautiful and tranqualizing pilgreamge place. The Le Temps D'une Pinte is a good place to finish the day with good food, good local beers, and good service. Unfortunately and fortunately, we expereinced the first snow of the year and so could not go on foot to enjoy the history of the buildings in the downtown area, but then the snow added the beauty to the city.Guest review byLOUIS YAN HINHong Kong - 6.0
I love Gatineau, it was my childhood home.
I love Gatineau, it was my childhood home. It is very beautiful, however, with all the construction, long weekend traffic & Ironman rally detours unbeknownst to us tourists, plus a couple fender benders, traffic was horrific for getting around.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

This was my first stay at this hotel and I really enjoyed it! Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-organized. The staff was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing. My only regret is that I only stayed for one night and didn’t book a room with a view of the river — something I’ll definitely do next time!Guest review byVioletaCanada
