We used Lausanne as our base to visit the Chillon Castle (highlight), Montreux and for our drive out to Gruyère and the Cailler chocolate factory. With the Lausanne tram/bus/train pass, it was easy to get around town—Lausanne has interesting architecture and we found a few good restaurants not hard to reach with the passes. Lots to do there, not an overwhelming size, real variety. Would visit again.— missed highlights but liked the feel of the city. We are 69 and 70.Guest review byStuartUnited States - 8.0
Montreux was a nice location to go to Rocher de Naye.
Montreux was a nice location to go to Rocher de Naye. There were some great walks in the neighbourhood like 'Gorges de Chauderons'. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. The view of the lake was great. Montreux was not the cleanest town/city we visited in Switzerland.Guest review byAnnelies - 6.0
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist...
Evian-les-Bains in June, during what should be peak tourist season, felt unexpectedly lifeless. Many stores appeared permanently closed, and the town lacked any real atmosphere after early evening—by 10pm, only the casino restaurant was still serving food. This left few options for late dining or entertainment. Given these circumstances and the general sense of a closed-up town, I would not recommend visiting Evian-les-Bains, especially if you're expecting a lively lakeside resort experience. While some guides and official tourism pages highlight Evian's attractive lakefront, Belle Époque architecture, and potential activities along the lake and nearby outdoors, recent firsthand accounts confirm a lack of vibrancy and operational businesses, even in traditionally busy months. For travelers who prioritize a bustling atmosphere and broad dining options long into the evening, it may be better to look elsewhere.Guest review byRudyKUnited States - 10.0

Nice lake front with port/marina. There's a steep climb up to the town from the water with a funicular railway (summer only?). Lots of places to eat plus takeaways and supermarket in easy walking distance of town centre.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Nyon has the tough luck being located between Genebra and Lausanne. Nevertheless, the location by the lake with plenty of history makes it a great place to visit and have a gentle stroll around its quarters.Guest review byMikeSwitzerland - 10.0

Really nice location in this nice old town area.
Really nice location in this nice old town area. Simple and comfortable hotel. No AC but a portable fan was in the room that worked well. Windows opened for cooling. They did smoke in the walkway and that would enter the roof now and again. Front desk employees were very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.Guest review byBrown - 8.0
You really only need one day to see Geneva proper.
You really only need one day to see Geneva proper. We did a walking tour which is always educational. If you want to visit the UN, you need to schedule ahead of time. Great restaurants downtown near the train station. I recommend Indian Plaza and Pad Thai. The trams and bus were easy to help get around.Guest review byKarenUnited States
