The location is amazing with comfortable rooms (AC), a salt water pool and a protected beach steps away. We loved getting to know our fellow travelers while relaxing at the pool or beach. Additionally Nereus' friendly staff were able to provide local trips in the area, we went on a tour of the Corcovado National Park on a standard tour. The staff was able to customize days fishing and paddle boarding with the Captain Tom, who was able to tell us about everything around us. Their onside Massage Therapist/Yoga instructor, was there when we returned to help provide additional relaxation and services after our days of adventure. The food is excellent, they provide a large quantity of locally sourced food for delicious family style meals. We had a wonderful poke bowl / sashimi from that day's catch that would rival any sushi restaurant. The meals are served so you can pick your favorites and easily accommodate those with diet restrictions. Their staff is amazing and we can't wait to return.

This hotel is unreal! I am fairly well-traveled, yet I have never seen a location like this. From start to finish, the trip was amazing - and since it looks like I’m one of the first to review this place, I’ll give as much detail as space allows... We began in the small fishing town of Sierpe where we parked and met the hotel staff to travel by boat to the hotel (I was told you can also fly into Drake’s Bay) but I recommend the boat ride, as the hotel guides stopped regularly to point out the mangrove’s wildlife and we saw monkeys, sloths, birds, and crocodiles. From the mouth of the river, it was an exhilarating ride along the rainforest-clad coastline as we approached the hotel bay and then switched to a smaller boat with a cinematic and memorable beach landing at the hotel! When we arrived, a welcome drink was waiting for us, and we planned our stay. I completed one day hiking in Corcovado and one day snorkeling. Hiking was great. My guide, Manfred, was such a delight and so knowledgeable on the area and the animals we saw. Word of caution - it was a long hike and I probably saw more animals on the hotel grounds than in the park (even tapirs - right in the hotel common area!!!) but it was still nice. The night hiking tour on the hotel trails was really cool, and we saw a completely different array of wildlife. It was a little daunting being in the jungle at night, but our guide was knowledgeable and confident, and that energy was palpable and calming. We had a delicious dinner included in the tour as well. The next day we went to Cano Island. Of all the places I’ve snorkeled, this was by far the best, and was perfect for my sister who is a complete novice. Our guide was amazing. After the tour, the staff had a BBQ lunch set up right on the hotel beach for us, and it was a perfect day. During the rest of our stay, we mostly lounged by the pool and enjoyed the sunsets. Special thanks to the exceptional staff - Justin, Edward, Manfred, Erika, and Carla!

Filip, his wife, and their dogs are the warmest and most welcoming hosts. When you stay at Finca Sueno de Osa, you become part of their family and they share their vast knowledge with generosity and humour. We stayed in the cabin with the front porch and highly recommend this. The cabin was very private, cosy, breezy, and clean. We sat on the porch for hours listening to the macaws, howling monkeys, frogs, and many other birds that Filip knows lots about. Filip has created many hiking trails that are clearly marked and that will take you into places you’d never imagine…waterfalls, rocky rivers, ridges, lush primary rainforest. Bring your hiking gear and get ready to be amazed. The hiking is exquisite. …As are the meals. Filip and Nettie cook everything with care, with many ingredients coming from their fruit trees, hens, pig, and cheese from a neighbour. You will be treated to some of the best food in Costa Rica, and Filip shares his stories about ecology, Costa Rica, and many other wisdoms over meals. Filip provides excellent instructions on how to reach his paradise. Once you are there you’ll not hear anything except the sounds of Osa. Our stay was the best part of our time in Costa Rica.

Situated between the blue waters of the Golfo Dulche, and the green canopies of the Corcovado National park, lies a little piece of paradise... You wake up in the morning to the sound of monkeys, Scarlet Macaws and a variety of other birds. You get up, make yourself a cup of coffee. You step outside, sit down, and let the warm rays of the Costa Rican sun slowly, but gently bring you back from a good long sleep. You shower, get dressed, and make your way through the lush tropical garden and across a small wooden bridge. And just as you get close to the main building of the property, a big, deep and warm voice greet you " Hello Asger, how are you this morning"?. That is the voice of Andrew, the owner of this magnificent place. Him and his lovely wife, are some of the kindest and most welcoming people you will ever meet. And if staying at a tropical place like this, shouldn't be enough to put a smile on you face, their personalities definitely will. I can't recommend this place enough. Whether you stay for a day or a week, this place is bound to have an everlasting impact on you, and make you want to return.... Pura Vida.

Everything was above our expectations. The food was very good and all the staff were exceptional. We did a guided tour and it was great. The hiking trails allow you to see so much wildlife and it’s away from the city which is great. It’s a hidden gem and we will definitely be returning. The pics don’t do it justice it is very beautiful and the rooms are gorgeous. Very clean and you can tell they really focus on being ecological and caring about the environment. We stayed at other hotels during our trip but this one topped them all and had the best food! They have vegetarian options on the menu as well which were great.

Puerto Jiménez served as a rest-over before going to, and when coming from a trip to Corcovado Nat'l Park. We were able to take and ride bikes from the hotel to restaurants and to look around (the walkway to the pier was torn up so we had to go the long way around and the bikes came in super handy). The staff was friendly and could answer all our questions.

Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience.

Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience. Highly recommend a 4WD to get here especially if it is raining. It is a 20 minute drive from Puerto Jimenez and the last section (about half a mile) can be challenging the first time around. The place is quite remote and a fun place to stay if you want to enjoy the rainforest. The cabin we stayed in was located in the rainforest on the edge of the Corcovoda NP. There is a kitchen to cook simple meals. The cabin had a refrigerator as well. You can make your own drip coffee. Meals are offered by the caretaker's family in another house downhill on the property. There is no Wifi available in the cabin but is available at the caretaker's house. Recommend having home cooked meals at the caretaker's place. Good food and friendly folks but none of them speak English. We were able to get by with very little Spanish. A guide is available on request. Guide speaks English and will come to the Ecolodge to arrange and take you on tours. We went on several tours with the local guide and were happy with the service. Saw a lot of frogs on the night walk close to the property. Overall a pleasant and out of the normal experience. If you love to stay and experience the rainforest this is the place.

A quiet, under-developed tropical destination, immersed in the rainforest. There is no town per se, just properties immersed in green. Wonderful beaches, no one around for miles. The nearest bar / restaurant is 45 min away by car on a bad road. The nearest store is in Puerto Jimenez. Patchy cell phone reception. Spectacular nature, all around: birds, butterflies, monkeys.

It is a lovely little town. We stayed about 3 km outside of La Palma directly at the beach Playa Blance, we loved it there. A gorgeous community that has retained a local Tico feel; expats and tourists are definitely in the minority. I never felt unsafe even walking alone at night. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to walk all the extensive jungle trails in Bolita and the Corcovado National Park. But, those I did walk to led me to magical waterfalls, swimming holes and amazing views. The wildlife is plentiful. I saw 3 of the 4 monkeys that live in Costa Rica and woke in the morning to the sounds of the 4th, the howlers calling in the distance. Toucans, hummingbirds and macaws are everywhere. Not to mention the incredible number of other slightly less showy birds, amphibians, reptiles and insects. Dos Brazos was an incredible find and I will definitely be back.

We had the luxury of spending nearly an entire month on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica - the first two weeks near Drake Bay and the last two weeks in Puerto Jimenez. If you have to choose one over the other, I would go with Puerto Jimenez, which has several advantages: a full grocery store if you're doing your own cooking, nicer beaches with finer sand as opposed to broken shells and sharp stones and, an airport within walking distance to the town. Both towns are safe and tourist-friendly and offer a wide variety of excursions including access to Corcavado National Park but Puerto Jimenez, with its paved streets and better restaurants is my choice.
