"The town was in a hibernation in February. Meaning lots of places were closed. The place is mostly visited by German tourists because the people in the town aren't speaking very well the English language. Thanks to my wife that could understand a bit of German and to the people that were very understandable to our broken German language, we've managed to find a way of communication.
The prices - are pricey. Touristic place of course.
The town was clean, and near Switzerland and Austria which we visited of course.
We've loved that in the restaurants the cooks were adjusting our chosen dish in order to fit it to our keto diet. This means a lot when the restaurants are flexible to each customer.
Friedrichshafen is meant to be visited in the warm season, not the cold one due to the extremely clean lake Constance where you can swim and rest. We have visited in the cold season because we needed a place to stay near Switzerland and Austria and Bavaria of course. We have traveled by car which offered us the opportunity in a week to visit lots of places like Black Forest, Neuschwanstein castle, Munchen, Wuertzburg, Rottenburg ob de Tauber, Meersburg, Lindau, Neuhausen am Rheinfall in Switzerland, and Pfänder mountain in Austria. Hope this recommendation will help other travelers."

"Lindau - especially the old city on an island in Lake Constance - is a beautiful but very touristy place. As Lindau is a small town, you can basically see everything of interest in two days, and can then relax in the nice surrounding. I recommend renting a car to get around, if you do not only want to stay in town."

"This is such a beautiful area to visit! I was so overwhelmed with the beautiful area and the historical town. Beautiful buildings and the vibe is buzzing with people/families walking dogs along the promenade frequently. Entertainment seemed to be more taking place in the weekend, with a fantastic artist painting and selling his artwork. There was a man with an organ grinder, and a man I am sure is a professional piano accordion player - we heard Vivaldi and Mozart pieces to name a few being played. Brava! A lady was playing a violin on one occasion. So much talent and just in the area of walking along the harbour.
The area is so pretty and we walked in a few different directions, but unfortunately didn't get to the thermal spa for an aniticaped swim.
The ferries are frequent leaving Uberlingen, and go to the areas across the bay. We went by train(s) to Lindau for a day, which was so picturesque on a sunny day! The town's buildings are Medieval and so unique to the area.
I went to the private island of Mainau for a day and what a feast for the eyes of beauty with many gardens and places to sit and look at the lake or relax. A day of much exercise as you walk /meander around the exquisite gardens of the island.
I recommend these places in particular. I have never been is such a pretty place!"

Great wellness hotel with outstanding service. We were here to celebrate my Birthday and receive a great treat from the Check-in moment and all the staffs seems to acknowledge about this so everyone said HBD. This is very impressive to me. This family owned Hotel is very well decorated and managed. The room is very spacious with comfortable bed and great balcony with beautiful view from the Bodensee. Spa area is very nice, well decorated , and the treatment was also very good. The dinner is very delicious with various dishes to choose from plus the great wine recommendations from one of the Lady Boss (I forget her name). I would definitely come back to stay here and would recommend this!!

The location was wonderful, there are no beaches, but you can get in the water through docks with stairs. The lake is so clear! Unfortunately, we were in one of the few rooms with no balcony and no view. There was construction going on a property a few houses away so this woke us up if we had the window open. There are lots of jogging/walking trails and places to chill by the water. It's worth the expense for a special occasion as a middle-class person, it is on the very expensive side. For the two nights, we stayed there, we did feel like royalty.

I travel alone for work, and these are my first trips after being hospitalized with pleuritis and pneumonia. Because of this, I need extra comfort, such as resting and eating in between. The staff was extremely helpful and understanding. It is always nice to stay somewhere where personal contact and customer friendliness are central. This is definitely the case here, and I will certainly return. Also to walk there is amazing, pictures below.

Other hotel might have one tiny 3 people saunas, here there are 3 big ones!

Great location.
Great location. Easy train links from Zurich train station and Zurich Airport. Very clean and tidy town. Some great restaurants but beware of the huge portions that almost every restaurant serves - even the side salads were pretty big!

Friedrichshafen is a lovely and welcoming place we visit from time to time since the year 1987. My husband is a radio amateur and attending the Ham Radio Fair is a key element of our program.
Wonderful nature, welcoming hosts, great restaurants.

Quaint old town on Bodensee offering lots of shops, restaurants and historic buildings to visit including the Meersburg castle. Stroll along the promenade and relax on one of the restaurants patios. Easy ferry trip from Konstanz.

Überlingen is a city in a strategic location for trips to the beautiful part of the lake. Easy access to places to visit. (Meersburg, Mainau Island, museum houses on stilts, nice beaches with beach service Hagnau ...)
It is possible to get the ECHT Bodensee card. It allows visitors to travel by train and bus for free. We did not use it because we were traveling by bike and car. Parking is quite available everywhere (sometimes it is quite full, but you can always find a place), for a fee.

A little off the beaten track, but plenty to do.
A little off the beaten track, but plenty to do. Boating, swimming, rent bikes and visit the towns nearby. Hop on the bus (very simple to use and covered by the hotel tourist card) to visit nearby towns, get to the train station, or the ferry station. We were able to visit Lindau-Insel on a day trip by bus/train, spend 5-6 hours there, and still made it back in time for dinner and watching the sunset over the lake.
Konstanz, and Insel Mainau are easily reachable by bus/ferry.

We live near Stuttgart, so it’s very easy for us to use the D-Ticket to hop over to Radolfzell. It’s an excellent base to explore Bodensee: 20 minutes to Konstanz, a nice ferry ride to Reichenau, gorgeous homes along the lake.

Hagnau is a beautiful community with wonderful architecture...
Hagnau is a beautiful community with wonderful architecture and gently sloping streets. We felt very safe as we walked the streets. There were many restaurants to choose from. There were opportunities to go to the park, where there were several activities to choose from. There was a wonderful winery with wine tasting within walking distance. The countryside around Hagnau is beautiful also.

a neat little city on the shores of the bodensee, with plenty of shops, and many friendly bars and restaurants to choose from as well as visitor activities. The prices in the bars and restaurants was quite reasonable and less than i was expecting having visited various Germany cities many times. the visitor card was free and issued by the hotel, this included free local travel and reduced admission to some attractions. We used the pass to take the bus on a couple of occasions, once to the therme spa and once to the lakeside beach at litzelstetten. we ate at three separate venues , each one as good as the last so i wont list a preference but the wirsthaus meal had the best view as we sat on the side of the river. we were blessed with good weather all weekend so our activities were all outdoors. there are no big hills in the city.

Lindau was a nice 2 day visit - unfortunately, virtually none of the museums and sites accept the Bodensee Plus Card - a rather expensive 3 or 7 day pass that was sold by the Lindau Tourist Information Center - that was a surprise. Very easy to drive to Brengenz Austria for their offerings.
